DeNiro
Well I guess the Dekeyser PTO makes sense now. Maybe we can sign Stralman to a PTO still.
Ilya Mikheyev
Some PTO players end up signing with different teams after camp (i.e., Owen Nolan, Brendan Morrison) - still a chance he has Vancouver as an option.

Although I guess they thought they’d be better with the Jones trade.
grandmaster
Looks like the Canucks will be waiting for the waiver wire for a RHD on September 15th.

There wont be any decent RHD on waivers. Hot commodity. Maybe a trade to be made though.

Maybe he wants to contend, maybe he wants term. We really haven't had any insight from his camp. Hoping he signs a 1 or 2 year deal here still if there's no other options for D improvements on the horizon.
Coconuts
Can't blame him for picking Carolina, if they'd had Anderson they'd have likely made the conference final. They've consistently been in the mix the past four seasons.
VegasCanuck
Does not mean we can't still sign him. PTO is not binding for a player. If another team offers him an actual contract, I believe it gives Hurricanes a first right of refusal, but nothing more.

Im surprised no one offered him an actual contract to be honest. Or maybe they did and he didn’t like the offers? This is a chance to prove he deserves more than league min?

Yes, he can still sign an NHL contract with another team.

I mean you’d think if he wanted to sign here he would have. We can offer much more opportunity than the Hurricanes. But maybe he’s more interested in trying to get on with a cup contender, who knows?

Only if the Canucks overpay will we get a RHD that way. Face it. Drafting and developing RHD's are the best way to go.

In past, we've seen players who have a PTO signed with a team, sign a contract with another team. PTO doesn't guarantee a player anything other than insurance and basic expenses I believe

Fun team, very good chance of a spot, lots of LTIR money, kind of a no-brainer.
