[Rumour] Canucks interested in Ethan Bear

100% agree with this. I expect Bear will be available for very little because CAR will be cap strapped when Patches returns from LTIR. Please don't trade Hoglander for Bear!

That’s too bad that CAR would be up against the cap. I was hoping the Canucks could send Pearson there way in the trade. Oh well.

If they’re dangling Hoglander I think it’s a mistake. Too early to give up on him.

Bear isn’t decent, not sure he’s a long term solution though.

Is Hoglander rumoured to be going the other way?

I'd be okay with adding Bear to the D core

OEL - Myers

"Huggy" - Bear  (like it's meant to be)

Rathbone - Schenn

Dermott - Poolman

Burroughs

  • Huggy Bear 4

  • Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been a busy man this summer, signing major contracts with J.T. Miller, Ilya Mikheyev, and Andrei Kuzmenko. And despite the fact that training camps are close, he may not be done. In a conversation with The Athletic’s Thomas Drance, Allvin stated that the team would still be looking to add to its current group of players, saying that there is enough “cap space, and roster spots, and contract slots” to be able to facilitate an addition. (subscription link) We’re certainly late into the offseason free agent market, but with the preseason waiver wire set to be active and a few free agents still remaining, it’s possible that the Canucks get a new face or two into the mix before they open their 2022-23 campaign.

I could just see him being seen as the odd man out. Hope that isn’t the case.

I think if they’re just going for a band aid solution for now, they should sign Stralman or wait for waiver trades to open up.

Too much for a guy CAR is looking to dump and isn’t a long term fit for us.

Send them Dickinson and a 4th.

If Poolman is LTIR already maybe we can just add Bear for cheap with no roster losses.

I'm with you.  Look at what Colorado did adding Toews (trade) and Manson (signed).  Those guys are real help when you are looking to add to your top 4.

Bear is arguably at the same talent level as Dermott and Poolman.  He is not the answer in the long run.  So why give up a guy who still may turn into a very good top 6 player? Hope they don't do it.

In two years the cap situation will improve and will allow us to sign the equivalent of a Manson and Toews as we will have no more dead cap and the cap limit will be going way up.

Yup.  We need a Gillis move where he got Hamhuis and Errhoff and Tanev.
