flickyoursedin
Nic Hague is still unsigned and they’re hurting for cap space. Hoglander burst onto the scenes but is now looking like he’s being penciled into our 4th line. While his hustle I’m sure he’ll do okay but people will complain when he’s not producing while getting 8 minutes a game with Lazar and whomever else we put on that 4th line. To Vancouver - Nic Hague (bridge deal around 2.75-3.25) To Vegas - Hoglander, Dermott and a 3rd round pick Waive Dickinson to create a little more cap space and replace him with a low salary player. Bobby James
I think he is a good target for Vancouver, especially with how cap strapped Vegas are. But I don't see why we need to trade Hoglander to make it work. They don't have a lot of option, so maybe something along the lines of a 3rd round pick and DiPietro? I know that is a low ball a bit, but they strapped for cash and have major goalie concerns. Not saying Mikey is gonna fix it, but at least gives them someone with a little upside for the future and an okay pick for a player they will lose eventually due to no cap. Other option is they can take a package centered around Dermotte. Signed to 1.5 for another year. 1

Hoglander doesn’t require waivers this would be the idea of them stashing him or waiving a more expensive bottom 6 plug (like Dickinson) as it was 2 players for 1. The savings is the difference in salary between Hague and Dermott which could be something like 1.5-2 mill savings. Then I don’t know how attached they are to a guy like William Carrier on the 4th line but he makes 1.5 maybe he could be replaced by Hoglander which would save 600k. After all the moves considered they’re actually saving something like 2-2.5 mill. Edited September 22, 2022 by flickyoursedin
BigTramFan
I like this idea and I like Hague as a target...but VGK are not really in cap trouble. They currently have $2.6m left in LTIR cap relief to utilise (from Weber and Lehner). Patrick is reportedly going onto LTIR too. Plus they will likely waive Brossoit...keeping Thompson & Hill as their goalie tandem (I assume Hill is in because they traded for him recently). This gives them a total of about $4.9m in cap space with 12F, 6D and 2G on their roster already. They will likely add a 13th forward such as Leschyshyn ($770k) and another Dman in Miromanov ($760k) which will give them up to $3.4m to resign Hague. Boknows08
Do like Hague but not keen on trading Hoglander. Not only like the player he is but also Pearson will be gone soon and we don't know what we have in Kuzmenko. I'm ok with Rathbone going as hes behind Hughes and Oel. Yes one of them could maybe move over but is that going to work and be ideal. Rathbone, Schenn, 4th for Hague Then go and get Peeke from Cbj. They have Cuelemans and Jiricek coming along with Bodqvist. Not sure what it would take though.
