Brisebois has looked really good despite CGy dominating the away Canucks team.

He is closing his gaps quicker and is skating with more authority. He has looked better than Dermott and Burroughs.

Looks like he and Juulsen will be Abby's #1 pair

What is it about Vancouver that make players brittle like pottery?  Like Brock Boeser has had a rough time throughout the years here.  And Tanev, he seamed fine when he moved to Calgary but we needed him in bubble wrap when he was playing for us.  It’s been a problem since Sammy Salo.  I don’t understand why?

Did you miss the torn labrum?

This is a fast paced, intense, hard hitting game. It's not like Vancouver's the only team to lose players to injuries...happens.

Was at the game. My observations ...

The entire team was rusty. Timing was off.

- Petey was the best player, a true QB.

- Rathbone looked comfortable but rusty

- Podz was more active and significant as the game evolved.

- Martin was good despite the goals.

- Silovs was great in last period. Looks like a pro

- Lockwood was overpowered physically.

- Kuzmenko looked better from period to period. His spin move fooled the opposition. Thought he may have been trying too hard for most of the game.

- Schenn had a couple nice hits.

Hopefully Mikheyev is ok.

And ... despite how it looked on TV ... Arsenau made himself known - broke up plays on D, was physical, took penalties, and dominated that fight. It was obvious he was trying to make an impression.

Overall, it just seemed like being ready out of the gate could still be a challenge. But it's split squad pre-season ... Not worried.

Martin was fine. First goal was a good goal and second goal was just rust.

Rathbone needs to figure things out though or he’s gonna be starting in Abby.

If Martin struggles we have Delia who has a few dozen NHL games and Silovs who looked promising. I still think he'll be fine though.

More worried about Rathbone not being NHL ready still. The turnover was one thing, but he mailed it in after he knew he was beat. He's in his head and in the NHL, let alone beer league, being in your head is suicide.
