Best thing about this game for me was Podz scoring one.

More goals, more confidence in his natural talent consistently is all he needed and this can't help but grow him as a player as that shows more and more, Podz is hardly anywhere near his peak and I'm glad he's getting proper coaching.

I just hope he doesn't go to overboard so we can't afford him depending on cap..

I sure hope the cap takes a healthy rise it time to pay him what he's worth by signing day for him..

Great to see him hit the net tonight!

Lazar looks like a good add and a lock for the 4th line.

Dickinson and Joshua were just OK.

Doubt they can find a suitor for Dickinson but if you can….Nils Aman could definitely make a case for himself.

May have to just waive Dickinson.

I’m hoping it’s just nerves cause he had a very shaky game.

meh it's not like it's his first nhl game. he had 17 or 18 of them previously.. man i remember there were people last year thinking rathbone can replace hughes and we should send him packing to new jersey lol. i still think he needs couple more year in the AHL learning how to be effectively defensively before he can be in the NHL. offensively he's trying to do too much.. and he doesn't get shots thru like hughes for rebound.. defensively he's not doing much..

I don’t take much out of the scores, but Yeesh we looked like a small team compared with Calgary… and we didn’t look fast enough to make up for that.

Zadorov would have been a nice fit on our team.

Agree. I thought he was very steady and mature with his play.

Would certainly have been a good fit on the Nucks blueline.

Whatever.....skill takes a bit of time to dial in.

Grinders grind.

LOL true that.

Problem is, the past 2 seasons, i feel like the team was too relaxed out of the gate and then hit the oh crap button way too late. To salvage the season. They need to come out scoring and winning games off the bat this year. I mean we heard that they all came to camp in great shape, focused and ready to go. Now let's see it on the ice.

Huge Rathbone fan but if I had to call a spade a spade, today was disappointing.

He's waiver exempt apparently so I would be ok if he ended up going to Abbotsford and work his way back up at some point this season when he is firing on all cylinders. I don't think he has NHL comfidence yet. Play seems unsteady. That being said, it's just game 1 of split squad preseason. If he didn't have the year he did in the AHL, I would say cut him with other prospects tomorrow but I feel like he's earned a slightly longer rope.

he's going to get every opportunity to make the team. but so far in his limited preseasons the last couple years and nhl games he hasn't shown me much in terms of all the hype around him people here seems to have. hopefully he can prove me wrong as he'd be a good cheap elc

He doesn't really have a couple more AHL years at this point if he wants to be an impact NHL player. At that point he is a 7-8 depth option at best.

Didn't think it was a bad game liked we battled back, had the same feeling last year where we were never out of it, Really liked Pettey Podz and Garland's game I thought Kuzmenko did well for his first game in north America, liked mikheyev outside of the turnover, thought Rathbone played poor, was really impressed with Silvos

I agree with this assessment, which is why I wasn't wetting my pants too much over him, he's just still too raw IMHO. I am high on him though, if not a little impatient, but although it's a small sample size, he's yet again showing he's not ready.

I just can't fathom a rookie D in the AHL who was putting up a pt/game won't amount to being a good NHL player. Sure he may never be another Quinn Hughes but I still have high hopes for this kid.

Our grinders didn't grind here in Calgary tonight. Team looked tired already. No one stood out, unfortunately. Even Hogs looked average tonight. Hopefully both games are merely tired guys after training camp and being away in Whistler.

I'd like to see lots of cuts made early this year so that we can have our full team building chemistry for most of the remaining preseason games, resulting in our team being ready for the start of the season.
