Yes, for sure. I remember him being granted "exceptional status" in the OHL, yet he was drafted in the 3rd round (IIRC there were conditioning and attitude concerns from NHL scouts).

He's a big, mobile D with loads of talent though, but not very physical or in possession of a high hockey IQ, which leads him to suffer from inconsistency and indifference in his play, as well as being prone to poor decision making.

Normally when a big, great skating young prospect surfaces I'd be hyped on taking a flyer on him, but not so much this guy; he just can't seem to put it all together.

He’s been okay at the AHL level

he has been okay at the Ahl level, he’s 24 soon to be 25 tho he has time to put it together and maybe be a 5/6/7 type guy one day but yes completely agree not a project that makes sense for us

That’s because his parents force fed him ovaltine and he was built like brick shithouse from the age of 12. He was physically a man amongst boys and so he was able to just dominate the game without developing the skills to carry over when he wasn’t the biggest strongest one on the ice.

Love waiver time!

It’s when we get to see all the ex-Canucks that Benning and Green thought were regular NHLers over the years get dumped.

I thought that Sautner, Rempal and Domingue were always considered to be AHL depth call ups and nothing more.

Leon Gawanke is the only person on waivers today that I think the Canucks *could* claim. He's a 23 year old, right shot defenseman. No NHL experience but he's the kind of player I'd take a chance on. Young enough to keep developing and has more upside than Keeper/Juulsen. The type of player the Canucks should take a chance on. Best case scenario, he ends up a fixture on the blueline for a few years. Worst case scenario, you just waive him if he's not a good fit.

Not talking about them specifically.

We’ll see more players that fit the bill in the coming week.

This is why our former higher-up’s never got hired by another team. Looking at you Gillis, Linden, and Benning.
