Popular Post J.I.A.H.N
I love Bo Horvat, but it is looking looking more and more like his contract may price himself out of Vancouver. Truthfully, with Pettersson's contract coming up at the end of next year, and Miller's new contract starting, if Horvat get's anywhere near 7.5 to 8.0 million we will be spending almost a 3rd of our Cap on 3 players, more if you include Hughes and OEL. Pettersson..................................................8 years at $9,000,000 (Barzal new deal is $9,150,000 X 8 years) Miller...........................................................7 years at $8,000,000 Horvat.........................................................8 years at $8,000,000 Hughes.......................................................6 years at $7,850,000 OEL............................................................5 years at $7,250,000 That is very top heavy for 5 players = $40,100,000 approx 50% of your Cap for less than 25% of your players. IMO, that hamstrings you for years to come, never mind not being able to find the Cap for it. Yes, I understand that it has been announced that the cap will go up, but if we learned anything over these past few years, nothing is for sure. Your 3rd line center should cost you more in line with what Jenner is being paid anyways.................. Jenner...............29 years old......................4 years at $3,750,000 Peeke................24 years old......................4 years at $2,750,000 (actually on a ELC this year, so less) This deal, still gives us 3 good centermen and gives us a decent RHD which we need. Well, that is my idea for today.................... 4
Ghostsof1915
As proposals go this isn't bad. I'm just concerned Peeke isn't the RHD solution we need. 1
Coconuts
That's an underwhelming return imo, and I like Jenner.

Nucker 67
Trading captains, and giving the C to the guy who will do what he needs to get VAN a Cup. Horvat is not that guy, way too passive. Miller (C) Pettersson Jenner ...down the middle Hughes - Peeke I like it 1 1 1
Popular Post Coconuts
I also question whether Pettersson is actually a center long term or not, and his faceoff abilities. If the cap is supposed to jump up as much as 8M over the next few seasons I also question whether the concern about paying Horvat is overblown or not. I think you have to look at things in it's entirety. I not sure you can commit that much cap to so few players. and it's 8 million over 3 years.....maybe! And if Pods blossoms, there is another few million not accounted for...........IMO, it's about being balanced, and I am not sure we are balanced. Nuxfanabroad
Good basis for a deal. They've got 2 3rd's next June..perhaps they throw one in? Then to balance cap/contracts, be nice to throw in Dowling or Dipietro. 1

We have until July 2023 to trade Miller, no? If we start this year like last year (and this preseason) then Miller, Bo, and others could all be gone. nuckin_futz
Not a bad deal. Can we get a Horvat trade thread to 1000 pages?

I'm still not sold on whether management views Pettersson as a center or not long term, and I'm skeptical of his ability to win draws consistently. I still think it's an underwhelming package too. And I mean, I've seen plenty of folks go off about how we're so strong down the middle the last few months and I just don't see it. I'd sooner flip Boeser than Horvat and let Pettersson and Miller alternate playing at center. If cap is your concern there are other ways to ship cap out. Bottom line is we're going to have to ship a forward out to allocate money to our D sooner than later but I don't think it should be Horvat. I'd sooner move Boeser or Garland. And what Bo actually wants is speculation, anyone claiming to really know is likely talking out their ass. Odd.
I like this trade a lot. If we can perhaps add a 2nd in this years draft, that’s be solid.
Elias Pettersson
I'd do this deal if Columbus added a 2023 2nd round pick. We need those 2nd round picks back so we can draft our own RHD. And the 2023 draft looks really good...

Crabcakes
Horvat isn't worth $8M. Sean Couturier ($7.75), former Selke winner is much better defensively and has had 76 points twice in his career and Horvat has topped out at 61 points once. The comparable is pushing it. BO worth 6.750 mil x 7 years. if he demands more than trade him. i love BO. i'ld want to know what other teams would give up for him. or miller? 1

I agree if Horvat camp demand over 6.9 million X 7 yrs its time to trade Horvat for young RD man. Horvat younger then Miller should get a decent package back.. I would hope that either Horvat is signed or traded before October 15th this would be a big distraction.. Really feel a team will offer Horvat 7.5 X 7 yrs as a UFA.. Vancouver will never let Horvat become a UFA to big of asset to walk.. Canucks have some big contracts already and more coming big contracts to come.. Petey - 2 yrs away - 8.5 - 9 million? Podkolzin -2 yrs away Example - Markstrom -- Tanev, of recent left for nothing....
