Geoff Courtnall was obviously not Tim Hunter or Gino Odjick.  But he played a pretty tough game...kind of like Glenn Anderson.  If I were making a physical players list from the Oilers dynasty I might well have included Anderson as well.  He would drive to the net hard, take punishment to get there and give a bit too.  Linden threw some great bodychecks but I left him off the 1994 list.  I think Courtnall was a better example when things like agitation through physical plays were included, also had a bit of Ken Linseman / Esa Tikkanen in him.  His "rat" hit on Jamie Storr basically resulted in his Blues winning the series against the Kings in 1998 with four goals on the power play it all led to.

But yes he would be the first to go from the list if I took somebody off.

Glenn Anderson was an absolute beast in the playoffs, would take his regular season points (already impressive) and ramp them WAY up Linden style in the post season (he's still 4th all time in playoff points).  And his penalty minutes would ramp up as well.  Anderson's PIM for playoffs versus regular season is a big difference, led the league in playoff PIMs once and close to it a few more times.  Glenn Anderson is 7th ALL TIME in career playoff penalty minutes (probably 5th when he retired).  Mark Messier is 51st.

Needless to say not all PIMs are created equal but Geoff Courtnall and Sergio Momesso were the runaway PIM leaders on the whole team in the 1994 run.

Not the cleanest hit by today's standards but Geoff Courtnall KO'd Roenick.  I guess it was a Bure on Churla type of number.  Anyway, on another day I might have listed Linden or Bure if in the mood.

Sooo, I get why the Wednesday game wasn’t televised, because it was in Abbotsford, but why the heck isn’t it on tv tonight? Why does Sportsnet hate us so?

Good question. SN had issued a statement regarding Wednesdays game saying they like to televise all the games however they are not equipped /organized to telecast from the Abbotsford arena. Perhaps their budget is tighter than a frogs arse.

The Canucks have multiple players in the lineup that play physical . A very rare thing in years past.

Agreed, and it’s infused all over the lineup. I think our overall team toughness will rub off on unlikely physical players as well, as that usually happens when you ice a team with a ton of pushback.

Schenn, Burroughs, OEL, Joshua, Lazar, Miller, Pearson all throw their weight around on a nightly basis, Garland as the pest, and guys like Horvat and Podkolzin who can each hold their own.

We’ve got some great overall pushback, and hopefully Podkolzin develops into that mean power forward soon.

Joshua comes across as a guy who will finish his checks regardless if he’s late to it or not Lol. That guy loves hitting everything in plain sight.

Which is strange because he has been distinctly not physical in the pre-season

Damn, I really wanted to see the Coyotes' high school rink. Maybe it's not equipped to televise games. Nah, just SN being a bunch of cheap jerks.

EDIT - my mistake, I thought this was being played in ARI.

We will need it tonight... Arizona has a team packed with tough guys. At least it will be entertaining for their fans.

[GDT] Preseason October 7, 2022 Dogs at Nux 7pm PT Rogers Arena, Not some high school somewhere, but still no TV other than Canucks TV*: www.canucks.com) SN650AM

*Thanks to canucks.com for Canucks TV and for our forum, CDC.

IS IT Canucks Revenue or IS IT Canucks Review?

That is to ask:  HOW MUCH would this game have earned if played in Arizona at some high school somewhere?

Somebody cares, but we don't care, we just want to watch the game.

"Female dog, female dog, female dog", everybody's crabby these days; 'specially me sometimes.

Lots to complain about maybe: some people can't watch it, reception is spotty, sound's in and out, etc.

But it is Preseason folks!  And it sure beats the old days when we didn't get any games at all for weeks sometimes, during the regular season; 'cept on radio (hence us old farts preferring play-by-play announcers who actually call the play and name the players).

Previously we got no preseason games at all; and then some on Pay-Per-View, which was really crappy TV, or only on the radio, and depending on your location and the weather, the radio could be hit or miss as well.

Very early TV was often snowy and you could hardly see the players and the puck not at all; and you often had to choose between the sound or the picture not being able to get both even when your dad made you hang on to the antenna and hold it's scrap of tinfoil just right.

You Young-Uns are busy complaining about this or that little thing when we've got all this great coverage and CDC too.

We've got it so good people; lets do what we can to cheer on the team and get happy!

IT'S GAME DAY FOLKS!

LET'S STOMP SOME DOGS!

GO CANUCKS GO!

Pre-season Oct 7 vs. Arizona Projected Roster 2 SCHENN 3 RATHBONE 5 POOLMAN 8 GARLAND 9 MILLER 20 LAZAR 21 HÖGLANDER 23 EKMAN-LARSSON 30 MARTIN 35 DEMKO 40 PETTERSSON 43 HUGHES 44 BURROUGHS 53 HORVAT 70 PEARSON 81 JOSHUA 88 AMAN 92 PODKOLZIN 94 KARLSSON 96 KUZMENKO

Now that's a lineup that can do some damage.

We'll get a better idea of lines and pairings later this morning.

Rathbone, Poolman, Lazar, Hoglander, Burroughs, Joshua, Aman, and Karlsson are still on the bubble.

Not all are going to be starting opening night; personally I hope Lazar, Burroughs, and Joshua make it because I believe we need:

MO GRIT.  and MO GRIT.  and MO GRIT.  and EVEN MO GRIT!

Pregame per Scores24.Live    Lots of Laughs in here folks, even had to change the Game Date to Oct 7 from Oct 8.  (and: Vancouver Canadians!!!)

Prediction for Vancouver Canucks vs Arizona Coyotes, Ice Hockey, 7 October 2022

MATCH PREVIEW

Vancouver Canucks vs Arizona Coyotes prediction 08.10.2022, which will take place in the NHL preseason. Both teams look extremely weak after vacation, and soon we will find out who will be able to partially rehabilitate for failures.  Below we will try to figure out which scenario the fight will take place.  (ESL?)

H2H STATS AND PREVIOUS RESULTS
At the start of the prediction for Vancouver - Arizona, let's turn to the history of the head-to-head between the parties. Their previous head-to-head took place last spring, and then the Canucks properly cursed over (sic) the Coyotes on their ice (7:1).

VANCOUVER CANUCKS REVIEW

When preparing the prediction for Vancouver, we state that it demonstrates mediocre hockey this fall. In the last game, the team dealt with Edmonton in a bitter struggle (5:4), and before that he had lost five matches. Ellias Pettersson delighted fans with a double. Although he is unlikely to be able to maintain stability. The cage of representatives of Canada is full of young and ambitious players. However, it is not possible to reach a really new level.

ARIZONA COYOTES REVIEW
In the process of forming a prediction for Arizona, they are forced to admit that she is approaching the start of the regular championship in terrible condition. The squad suffered five defeats in a row, making a large number of mistakes in defense (19 goals conceded). Of the strikers, only Barrett Hayton (2 goals + 3 assists) does not deserve serious criticism, and the rest of the players did not show themselves in the best way. The gang of Andre Turigny will again have to be satisfied with the status of an outsider of the league, since it is not able to claim something more serious.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS ARIZONA COYOTES PREDICTION

Now we have everything to conclude about the prediction for Vancouver - Arizona based on all of the above. Canadians do not look so helpless, and we believe that they will effectively put pressure on the pain points of modest opponents. Winning a home club is the best option for the match.

Bet on Match: Vancouver Canucks vs Arizona Coyotes

Bet: Win Vancouver Canucks
Odds: -137*
