Bad_BOI_pete
there is a a LTIR problem in the league where teams start the season with players expected to return to play sooner or later. i fully support this, but i wonder if any of the teams will be "punished" by being forced to make trades for trying to abuse it this season like las vegas last year. here are the teams that could be be in cap trouble and when it may occur. Edmonton oilers: Yamamoto will likely start on LTIR but he is only listed as day to day. very soon the oilers could be over the cap when yamamoto returns if no other high salaried player is injured. Montreal Canadiens: "if" carey price returns there is a very high chance montreal will be over the cap, there are reports of him missing the entire season but you never know with successful surgery. EXTREMELY UNLIKELY. Washington Capitals: when Backstrom returns expected in january, it is some what likely the capitals will be over the cap. Florida Panthers: when Anthony Duclair returns expected in december, there is a small chance the panthers will be over the cap. With everyone healthy they will be over the cap only by 3 million so not very likely but still possible. what do you think? do you think any team will be "punished" by forcing to make trades? is this abusing the system? How crazy am I on a scale of 1 to Kanye West? Edited October 9, 2022 by Petey_BOI spelling
qwijibo
Price is done. The fact that they just have Allen an extension all but verifies it. There’s also a chance that Byron is done too.

EDIT: Byron not returning will likely have no impact over the canadiens being over the cap, it all depends on price. It's highly unlikely but possible. but I digress, mtl will likely not have cap issues, like i previously stated. I don't know why we are fighting over semantics. Edit: also paul Byron not retuning has likely no impact over if the canadiens are over the cap, it will all hinge on Price.
