[Report] Maple Leafs shopping Wayne Simmonds

We could take him but he's a cap dump, so we want Trawna's 2nd pick in 2024 (to get our Stillman pick back), and RD Prospect William Villeneuve.

(Or as JM says Ferland..)

Yeah, such a classy player, deserves lots of respect, especially after he beats up known goon Alex Edler a couple of seasons ago. And Toronto, acting so selflessly, showing such care about his future. He’ll be dropped on the waiver list Monday, and someone will pick him up.

Why does Sportsnet think this is breaking news and warrants a phone alert for a 4th liner at best that know one really cares about

Because they can no longer talk Bluejays...have to change the subject, fast.

So Canucks get a tad of CAP relief and the first guy who comes along is a deal?

I mean, 2.1k people liked the original tweet and people have posted here.. so someone must care to a degree.

If they'd give us maybe a 3rd I'd take him off their hands. But that's probably optimistic all things considered.

His cap hit is less than 1M and this is the last year of his deal, Toronto would sooner waive him than give up a 2nd imo, optics or not.

He has been a 4th liner for the past 5 years. This trajectory has been downwards in each of those seasons. He is not a player of significance. Teams would rather give their prospects that spot in the roster. He should retire and get a non playing hockey gig.

Yeah, I was just dreaming; how 'bout just WV?
