HKSR
TRADE #1 To VAN: JG Pageau Oliver Wahlstrom To NYI: Brock Boeser Nils Hoglander Selling a bit low on Brock, but he's just not the player he was as a rookie. Just seems to be a step behind all the time. Pageau fills in nicely with Bo's departure (below). Wahlstrom could turn into that 20 to 30 goal guy like Boeser in a couple years. TRADE #2 To VAN: Damon Severson To NJD: Bo Horvat Both UFAs with high value. 1 for 1 makes plenty of sense. Allows NJD to move McLeod to a 4th line role. Gives them a TON of depth down the middle. Canucks get that coveted RHD. Full circle. Bo ends up with NJ afterall...
grumpyone
1. how do the dollars compare? if I remember correctly, we have ZERO cap space. 2. t'would be better if somehow we could squeeze a couple of, even late round, draft picks as well. IN: Pageau ($5m) + Wahlstrom ($0.9k) + Severson ($4.2) = $10.1M OUT: Boeser ($6.7m) + Hoglander ($0.9k) + Horvat ($5.5) = $13.1M Savings of $3M for now. Horvat will likely get a bit more than Severson once re-signed (I see Horvat signing for $7.xx and Severson signing for $6.xx)
hero11
I like this proposal. Makes sense for all involved. This team needs to make some real changes, and even if it hurts at first, so.etimes you have to make those moves.
JM_
I'd have to see Severson be locked up long term, but it does feel like selling low on Bo, I'd like to see McLeod come back in that deal as well.
nergish
Losing both trades, and ending up with a better roster. Who'dathunk?
Fanuck
Weren't there questions about Wahlstrom's work ethic in NY and his 'coachability'? He was in Trotz' doghouse several times last season for lack of effort if I remember correctly.
Strawbone
After that crapshow of a game, sure, let's do both of these trades! Anything is better than what we're putting on the ice right now.
BigTramFan
I dunno if Severson is the answer. He's -4 already this season. Only played 36 mins of even strength hockey and already given away 5 goals against. And that's with 68% oZ starts. He's not exactly the defensive dynamo we are searching for. I do agree that Horvat and Boeser are playing very badly, but the team as a whole has been collectively bad. Something is going on that needs to change. And maybe a captain change would help... Kobayashi Maru
Could we keep it simple and offer Boeser for Severson? Both are falling out of favour but it could be a nice change of scenery deal for both.

Agreed (Maybe another add is needed) and maybe Garland would hold more value instead. Mostly just the concept since the Devils RD is set for years. Maybe it helps that Severson is currently on the bottom pairing too and unlikely to re-sign.

His skating is still a step behind, yet he's recovering from a hand injury. No excuses. I just hope Kuzmenko sticks around after this season, he might be wondering why he chose the Canucks This management group needs to be bold, team needs a lot more than a tinker
