For all the Miller bashers, here's some context.  From what I understand, since the start of training camp he's been away from his wife & 2 daughters (ages 4 & 3) and a son born a few days prior to training camp. (They remained in Pittsburg.)  Now that the first road trip is done they are all apparently joining him in Vancouver and are going to stay for most of the season.  He's a devoted family man and it must be mentally tough not being with your wife & kids for such an extended period, and especially missing the first 2 months of your newborn son's life.  Yes, I realize he's a professional athlete and this is part of the sacrifice to be made but players are not robots.  Watch for his play to improve once his family life stabilizes.

Why bring his family life into this?  I dont know about the rest of you but im so tired of hearing about players families.  This should be completely irrelevant. You never heard about all this excess family crap back in the 80s, 90s or 00s.

Btw, Stetcher and Markstrom both peformed like warriors while they lost their fathers.

This is a fair argument to have about Pettey but Brock at his best is a complimentary scoring winger and hasn’t been his best for some time. Comparing him to Ovi, a Stamkos and Landeskog/MacKinnon is just such a distortion of talent levels. He is not on the same tier, not even close as these cornerstone players your using as an example.
‘He doesn’t have the speed or physical presence to be more than a complimentary player and no longer has the shot or killer instincts of an elite scorer.
You brought up the Avs and I see this year like the year the Avs finished worst team ever in the salary cap era. They had Landeskog and MacKinnon and some more of their core but this brought in Makar and then g-t lucky with Byram. I see us as having a few key pieces but needing a big infusion of depth of talent on D and at least one more elite level talent.  Also much like what the Avs did at that time to ultimately bring in Byram, we need to move a big player or two off this team for futures.

Nono sorry I’m not comparing Brock anyone of Ovi/Stammer/Landy/Mackinnon. My point was that it took those star players many many years to win cups after being drafted. They had to learn how to win. Thats the point I was making, we have a young squad and its going to take them some time to learn to win. We only drafted guys like Petey and Hughes who are our biggest star players, just a handful of years ago. Where as guys like stammer and ovi and landeskog were drafted and didnt win for 10 years.

Can’t generalize, every human is different, and the world has changed/become more “sensitive”. One thing i do agree with though is it’s not like you have to send a telegram to stay in touch these days. No excuses that way.

I would say it’s probably really revealing if you’re to throw shade or compare about someone losing a family member and how they respond to it. That’s just low and kind of ignorant. You’re just a fan and that’s where sh!t ends, ya know?

There's certainly time to sell pieces. I'm not panicking in that regard (though it would have been a lot easier to just do that in the first place).

There's definitely less time for them to pull out of this though and make hay. Beginning of this season Miller is likely what we have to look forward to, full time, in 3-4 years. Time's a wasting....

To be fair, we do need two. Myers doesn't particularly play well with either Hughes or OEL, and he expires after next season (and assuming we did replace him, we should be moving him sooner than later).

But otherwise, yes, exactly.

Oh I doubt this is the final word on the 22-23 Canucks. It's not a good look though for a roster that new management doubled down on. And some of us were going to see some of these changes this past summer, not waiting for the team to sewer another season with a bad start.

I do think part of loading up where they could on the F group was to have the option to trade from a position of strength. We can now move one of Boeser or Garland and be just fine.

This was never going to be solved in one off season.

It again feels like this team is too relaxed. It's no big deal that they have had another terrible start. What happened again when they had that attitude? I just don't get how they don't seem too worried. The culture is so messed up on this team. No standards to be great. It's the "we got time" attitude that burns them everytime.

Like I said in my quote, they are not robots.  They are human beings.  I'm not condoning his quality of play;  I'm merely suggesting a possible reason.  People react differently, just like you have with this topic.  Some have upvoted my quote, some - like you - don't agree.  It's OK - that's what makes life so fascinating.

So wait. Boeser, JT, and Myers are going to throw their jersey's on the ice after the game.

Bold!

Very Bold!

too salty man

don't worry, if the Canucks go into tank mode in November there will be a feeding frenzy to grab up several players.

Even retaining 50% on Myers should rate a late 1st.

Ha ha. We'll see. I predict we'll turn it around and just miss the playoffs again. Trade no one. Rinse and repeat ... hopefully in two years when Myers is up we have a plan in place by then.

the difference is we will be shedding dead cap and can likely move some other guys. Myers e.g., has a 5 mil bonus, once thats paid I think a lot of cheapie GMs look at that and want it.

Lets just try to chill until US thanksgiving, thats the marker to pay attention to imo.
