[Proposal] Schenn to Leafs. They need Dmen

Recommended Posts

Muzzin should probably just sit on LTIR for the rest of his contract, spine injuries are no joke

But yeah, they'll probably be looking for D

I'd offer to retain the 375k contract difference and offer them Myers as an option too

Muzzin might have a career ending injury. The Leafs are in win now mode. We should be selling for Bedard. There's a good match here.

Hell , maybe Myers and Schenn could go. For what ? Dunno. Leafs 1st + prospect ? Who do they have ?

I mean... I'm sure they'd want him. But he's honestly been one of our best players this year and the only guy who looks like he gives a crap every single shift, and if he's willing to stay, I think the team needs his leadership going forward.

That's a problem with the Leafs, there really isn't much there I'd want. Sandin? Liljegren? Niemela?

Probably picks, or maybe a prospect like Fraser Minten who they just drafted in the 2nd round this past draft

It's not as if we've got much in the way of center prospects

Or maybe Knies, a 2nd round pick from 2021

OEL and Schenn for Holl and a 2nd. Who says no?

The Leafs, OEL's cap is probably too much cap for them to take on given how they tend to fill out their roster with cheaper contracts, I don't see them wanting that term either

They've also got Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares expiring over the next three years and if the cap jumps everyone but Tavares likely gets a raise, the other three probably cannibalize a good chunk of Tavares's 11M

Myers expires the same year Muzzin would have, Schenn is a known quantity who they could probably extend on a cheaper short term deal

window is closing soon tho. OEL would be a great add for them imo.

I like Schenn and I see value in keeping him around, but he's playing above his pay grade and could likely bring back a solid return

He's a known quantity given the Leafs drafted him, he's played in Toronto, and they'd have seen him put up 12 hits against them as of a few days ago, ticks a lot of boxes

It makes a lot of sense

Not sure Schenn would sell for enough to justify selling. I'm not sure he would be expected to do with other teams what he's done in Vancouver.

He's cheap and he'd replace some of the abrasive element that Muzzin brought to their D though

All that more reason for them to go after more short-term options imo, particularly given how OEL's struggled this season

Yeah but we need assets. That's what gives him trade value. Leafs could use that leadership too
