[Signing] Stars re-sign Roope Hintz

Recommended Posts

Roope had 37 goals last season and 72pts, 24pts in 22gp this year and a ppg 2 years ago...Horvat going to want something nearly identical, I would say he should not get the same as Roope as Hintz has had better overall numbers the last few years. But, fans and Bo's agent will look at his goal scoring and want the same deal if not ask for more.

Dallas locking up guys for the same cap hit, Tampa 2.0 almost...Canucks hopefully can do something similar?

Ouch, Bo is going to get PAID. Was hoping we could get Bo around 8M but he plays more than Hintz, scores arguably a tiny bit less points but more goals. We'll be lucky if we get Bo under 8.5M.

Bo's ppg the last 2 years is not at Hintz's level and Hintz had a 37g season last year...not scoring at that same clip this season but he is over a ppg. Canucks should really just be offering Bo the JT Miller contract, maybe even going the max term route of 8 yrs

Pay attention to the size and skating of some oft he recent rising stars like the dallas stars recent drafts, tage thompson in buffalo etc.

Big bodies that can skate.  robertson, 6 foot 3 207pds.  Hintz 6 foot 3, 215 pds, thompson 6 foot 6 220 pds.

All these kids doing well, drafted late 1st or 2nd round.  developed over a few years and brought in slowly and appropriately.  Large bodies that can skate and then refined their skills through proper development.

After delving deep in to the canucks drafting and development since 2006.  I am just kind of defeated that we have changed or learned nothing over almost 2 decades.

I've been saying for months that they should've locked in Bo for 7Mx8Y to match JT's amount, but I think it's more likely up to at least 8x8.

Our Western Canada amateur scout didn't like smaller bodies as well  that could skate and played with some grit.  See Brendan Gallagher.  But somehow this same scout was credited by Jim Benning for "finding" EP?

Honestly, I don't think the comparison between Bo and Hintz is that close. Hintz is a better defensive player and I would argue also a better offensive player too, though maybe Bo will contest me on that statement if he continues his pace this year.

Not nearly at the same level as the players you mentioned but Canucks made a mistake in my opinion by waiving and losing MacEwen to start last year. He can skate really well and has some size. Is nothing more than a 4th line but with his speed and size he could have been a solid 4th line guy for us who also brought grit.

There is more to a player than just goals though. Roope outscored Horvat last year in goals and points...

Hintz also was not aloways a top 6 player where Horvat has been in that role for quite a while, meaning he gets more ice time 5 on 5 , PP and PK. Horvat also is the new go to guy for scoring goals on the PP in the bumper spot, taking over from the Petey one timer.

Management really dropped the ball on that one. Who ever is in charge of cap management in the new regime should get canned. Worried we are going to become the next Philadelphia Flyers.

I agree, to me it's not saying Bo is worth way less than Hintz but Horvat should Not be getting 8.45m or dare I say more on his next deal, not from us anyway...

Hintz is no slouch of a player, 37g last year, ppg the year before and over a ppg this year. Better offensive numbers as a whole compared to Horvat over that time, Bo is just Goal scoring like crazy this year but he isn't much of a playmaking C putting up lots of assists
