Oh man. I think this is the second time this has happened. I can’t remember if it was something to do with his heart.

This was my first thought as well. I think this could be it- at least from a human perspective, I hope it is. What a legendary career.

"Kris reported symptoms to the training staff on Monday and was immediately taken to the hospital for testing," said Hextall. "The test results were shocking to hear, but we are grateful that Kris is doing well. We are thankful to the medical staff and the physicians at UMPC. He is a warrior on the ice, but first and foremost, he is a son, father, husband and friend. His health is our number one priority."

The Montreal, Que. native missed over two months of the 2014 season due to a stroke. At the time, testing reveal that he was born with a very small hole in the wall of his heart. He has played 543 regular season games and 69 playoff games since his initial stroke.

"I am fortunate to know my body well enough to recognize when something isn't right," said Letang. "While it is difficult to navigate this issue publicly, I am hopeful it can raise awareness. It is important for me that my teammates, family and the fans know that I am okay. I am optimistic that I will be back on the ice soon."

He's my favourite non Canuck...I remember when he had his last one.

Life is fragile and fleeting and we really have to remember to enjoy it.

I wish him all the best in his recovery.

@smithers joe   seems you're in good company and even the young guys aren't immune. (Hope you're doing well also)

He's one of mine too due to his friendship with Luc.  Hopefully he makes a full recovery with no lasting effects and is able to enjoy his family, regardless of any return to hockey.

Hit's too close to home for me. And similar time of year too. I kind of don't feel so bad now. Letang is a world class athlete. It's scary it can happen to someone perfectly healthy.

My stroke was a warning sign to take better care of myself. Good luck, and full recovery Kris. It might be a longer road than you want. But I'm glad they got it looked at right away.

Again, and he's still relatively young (maybe not by player standards, but you know what I mean). Goes to show that it can happen to anyone, peak condition or not. Life is precious, gotta value it while you can.

Hopefully he bounces back quick.

Top pairing RD are awful hard to come by.  In retrospect...John Marino.

Hope Kris can return to the game.  Kind of alarming that this is his second stroke.  You don't often hear of

people that young having strokes.  Clearly they are minor, as he wouldn't have returned to hockey after

the first one.  Best of luck to him.
