Garland was flying tonight. Remember he scored 39 points in 49 games playing under Tocchet in Arizona. Garland is a keeper, he won't be traded. My only concern is how does the team have both small/slight guys in their top 9. I guess you could have one on 2nd line and one on 3rd line, but having both play on a third line won’t be ideal come playoff time in the future. I worry that Hoglander might be traded - Aman and Pods got called up, he didn’t. Next year he’s waiver eligible. Maybe swapping him to a team that has a good defensive prospect, even though I really like Hogs game.

Garland is one guy I would like to see a bit more of under Tocchet, he also seemed to do a bit better under Green so maybe the more structured approach compliments him a bit better.

I think that's why he's slated to ride out the year in Abby. From what I've seen he looked better than pod all year. 1

Depends on what else is coming back. Kapanen is a cap dump at this point. Are we retaining? I don't think it's that black and white. Regardless of what people think of him, he's still a 50+point player (in a bad year, on a bad team). 1

Which is why it makes sense to get Garland's value back up under Tocchet, trade him and keep the younger, cheaper guy, to mature in to that role. 10 minutes ago, Alflives said: We might not be able to move Garland though. He's a buy-out option in the summer? No he isn't. Never has been. That "idea" has been completely idiotic since someone thought it up, committed it to words on our screens, and made us all dumber by reading it. Hell be bought out right after Myers is 2 1 1

Hell be bought out right after Myers is Myers' contract is buyout proof. Plus, we can trade him at the 2024 TDL as a coming UFA, and get an actual pick. Garland signed his contract as a U25 right? So it's a very good buyout number for us, no?

There's certainly a trade to be made, Boeser (1m retain) + Schenn for Kapanen + 1st or Pickering Right now the 1st is a 16th overall pick which is almost a top-10 pick on any other draft year, so that might be a bit rich, whereas Pickering seems a bit more fair (maybe value of a late-1st). If they need to shed more cap they can give us one of their many bottom forwards (eg Blueger on a 2.2M cap hit brings very little to their team). 1

We are a bad team because we are stuck with boeser in our top 6 most nights. Not hard to figure that out at this point

Garland on the other hand, IS PRODUCING IN THE NHL. I think its wishful thinking at this point, if Hogs makes it , great, if not? With Garland being 26, I don't think there is any immediate need to move him or buy him out at this point.
DownUndaCanuck
Hearing Boeser for Holtz is in the works... I'd rather we focus on a pick or defenceman rather than yet another winger but I'd take this deal in a heartbeat.
