I'm a little surprised I haven't seen this pop up, could be I just missed it but I'll post it anyway. I only really listened for the Kuzmenko bits

He definitely mentions they won't be talking about an extension til the end of the season or closer to that time at 2:30

Says not to expect anything any time soon

Agent doesn't seem to have concerns about his lack of an NHL track record, cites his professional and international play

3:38 the trade deadline question comes up and the agent responds never say never regarding a possible trade, mentions the relationship with the team and and continuing talks

If the Canucks are out of it that could lead to some tense times leading up to the deadline (he didn't say that, it's just true)

Kuzmenko doesn't follow the news, not surprising, just focuses on his game

For what it's worth he's also Evander Kane's agent if that means anything

Letting him walk as a UFA cannot be an option.  If that happens, I'm out until the entire management team is fired.

Agreed, although I'm definitely in favour of trading him if we're out of it closer to the deadline.

Kuzmenko has been great. But he is a hot commodity that should be sold at peak price. With this teams defensive woes its time to sell the best assets for great returns to fix those issues. Although he is an excellent asset, he is just another winger (we have a plethora of them in the system - maybe not as advanced but they may get there) who can get us a good return. The management currently needs to be finding as many of these opportunities and selling high to get a good return. Rinse and repeat!!!

Money bags Millstein.

Would be best not to trade for that guys clients. Got a feeling he’s going to try and squeeze them for every last dollar or threaten to walk.

I think Kuz will probably want at least $6M.

Which would be a huge gamble.

Prove that you can drive play and not just rack up points playing with Petey first.

If that’s what they’re asking for trade him to a contender looking for cheap scoring for a 1st.

Lol.

That’s not how it’s going to work.  His agent will point out that Kuz is getting more points than Garland ($4.95M) and Boeser ($6.65M).  And look at comparable players in the league.

If true that Kuz can’t sign an extension until July 1st, Canucks are truly gambling that they can outbid other teams to get Kuz back.

EDIT:  it’s January 1st.  So Canucks still have time before TDL.

Also not how it works.

Those other players have proven themselves for more than one season. No one’s paying 6 mil for a powerplay specialist.

If they think teams are gonna hand an unproven KHLer a fat contract for one season I say good luck. I think teams saw the lesson learned with Gusev.

Probably, he's done a pretty great job at getting his other top Russian clients their bag. If he puts up 60+ points he's getting paaaiiidddd.

And 6-8 years I'd imagine.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled at the prospect of giving a guy with one NHL season to his name a big, expensive contract. He'd probably get it via UFA though if he puts up 60-80 points. Especially if the cap jumps 3-4M+, GM's gonna GM.

Bo and Kuz are the best trading chips and both should be moved at TDL.

Agreed.

Truth hurts i know.

hes not the type of player you build a defense around. He compliments a strong defensive group which we don't have.

And honestly, if he's not scoring he's not really doing much. He's a one dimensional scoring winger with 3 hits and 9 blocks in 24 games.

At 950K there could be a pretty good bidding war at the deadline, can't see them holding on to him past that point.

Oh def, any playoff bound team could fit him in.

If you are trading Bo and Kuz--   don't wait till the deadline. Either of them could get injured,  or your return gets diluted because fewer teams will bid

Agreed, an injury to either him or Horvat would be devastating.

It depends. If we can build a strong defensive core outside of Hughes, it can work. Hughes, is still fairly young so there may be room for improvement defensively.

In a couple of years, if it’s the same story, then I fully agree with you.
