[proposal] top 6 forward for defence, futures and cap space

Recommended Posts

To Columbus: JT Miller

To Vancouver: Andrew Peeke, Corson Ceulemans, 2023 2nd, 2023 3rd (Calgary)

Blue Jackets use LTIR to replace Voracek with a local PPG winger with potential to play center.  Their top prospects (Johnson, Jiricek) and high 1st pick remain intact.

Canucks get a big, 24 yo defensive D locked up at $2.75M for 3 more years, a near NHL ready RHD, a high 2nd in a deep draft, and mid round 3rd from a rival.

Peeke’s current salary ($785k) also creates $4M+ in space to use in trades this year. This can be used to take on expiring contracts to increase any returns at the deadline.

Give Miller’s ‘A’ to Petey, and Myers’ ‘A’ to Schenn.

Keep Schenn through the deadline to protect our younger stars, and prioritize some truculence for our 3rd line in the off-season.

Miller lives near Pittsburgh and even trains in their facilities in the off-season.

Before naming Larsen CBJ talked at length how they deviated from their hard working culture and how it was something they had to fix.  They are trying to rebuild their hard-working culture and are integrating a fair bit of youth.  Miller's effort when things don't go his way is pretty poor.   Have a hard time seeing them wanting Miller as role model.  Don't see him wanting to go there either - they look far from contending.  He doesn't have a trade clause but to have him upset is probably not going to help CBJ much.

Interesting - cheers.  Their 80 GF this year are second last in the East behind Philly. Wonder if they’d prioritize his ppg offence over his sometimes pouty attitude.
