[Proposal] Trade deadline trades

Recommended Posts

First trade, yes.  Fits their need for scoring, and we'd get a buy-low RHD.
Second trade, I'm not sure the Wings do it?  Though they have Seider as their #1 at even strength and you included Myers as the replacement for 2nd RD (plus they have Maatta to stabilize things), I wonder if they might want to hold onto Hronek (who's more of a PMD and not what we need anyways) since he is still young and has term left (1 more year, and he can grow well with the team).  Since they do have $18 million in cap space by the deadline, I wonder if they would do Suter (pending UFA, cap to move, plus he's skilled and plays PK), Lindstrom (lesser but stable ELC RHD), 2023 1st, plus maybe shoot for a prime prospect in one of Soderblom/ Kasper(Rasmussen isn't progressing that well, and if place of taking their young RHD we add 1 blue-chip prospect of their choice).

Third trade, is Timmins any good?  Thought Arizona gave up on him.  I wouldn't mind going for as early of a pick as possible for our beloved RHD instead of several mid-round picks which might not become anything.

Timmins is an unknown but would have to go through waivers as to why Toronto puts him in the deal and Canucks might as well see what he can do

But Allvin should be hounding David Poile to get Fabbro and Sissons in a deal with Predators as they not able to score and are stacked on defence

We are in serious trouble if you trade Horvat and Miller?? One not both..

If there trading both Miller and Horvat why are you stopping when are you trading Demko?

Hard to find Horvat and Miller in drafts look at our drafting?

Very hard to find #2 centre ..Canucks would be trading for one very soon after they trading both of them.

Yes to 1.

Doubt Red wings would do 2.

No. to 3. especially if Nucks have to retain salary

and you can't trade both Bo and Miller (unless you are thinking they go full tank mode) and doubt the other team will play along anyways....

other teams know they are over a barrell ...so they will constantly low ball the canuck....lets face it the Nucks are screwed for the next couple of years period....

Can't see Nashville trading Sissons.  Would create too big of a hole in their lineup with no one ready to replace him at C3.  Not sure they would have interest in Boeser either - skating issue and lack of two-way play. Nashville also tight on cap - reason why Fabbro is apparently available.

They could rip it apart, start almost all over.   I don't think we should keep Miller if we can't sign Horvat.

We could rip it up.   And Horvat is for sure the pivot point.   If he won't sign with our best offer, then don't see much point in trying to re-tool.    Long season left.   Who knows, maybe they fix this.  Doubt it though.   Alf could get his wish, but it might have to go right down to the nothing like TO, OTT did.   That includes one or possibly both of EP and QHs.

Schenn and Kuzmenko low hanging fruit along with Horvat this season.  Not sure how we trade Brock with too many cap strapped teams.  Lucic straight across might be the best we can do.    Could see a future where a lame duck center comes back as a cap dump, and Brock, Garland and Ilya M are our best players in the top six during this chapter.   We did this once before during the Keenan era.    Maybe it's time to do that again.   One year Gelinas was our best forward.

Edit:  Doesn't mean we have to stop cheering for them either.   I'm just tired of half measures.   This team actually reminds me a lot of the early 90's Oilers after all was gone.  A ton of promise.   No results.  Can't believe we just had 3 calder finalists and one winner ... and this is where we ended up.     Wanted us to sign Horvat to a reasonable deal.   Millers deal was reasonable.  217 points in 202 games.   Sure he has his warts.   So did other players in the past.   Maybe he needs to be "The Man" to truly aspire i don't know.     But he can't do it forever can he?  And certainly isn't doing it enough this year so far.   What a mess.

This is likely what we should do, but there is no way this owner will allow a rebuild.  we will see guys at their ceiling coming back in deals or any picks we get being used to flip (like we did with the Hamonic 3rd) for help now.  I expect more of a “rearranging” than a rebuild.

will signing horvat to 8 plus, make us a cup contender or just a more expensive same team that can't get it done?

we need a good young center prospect and a good defensive d-man to play with hughes for BO and a 2nd round pick for schenn.  moving on from myers, poolman, pearson and boeser would be a good start.

Maybe the idea is to raise everyone up the best they can then do a fire sale at the TDL.    One way or another, this will be confirmed over the next two seasons.   Cap limits things right now.   Don't mind if they made a mistake this summer and change direction.   As long as the change direction.   We don't know what the team offered Horvat either.   That extra year obviously wasn't enough for him.    So far anyways.

sounds like you want our high paid players traded for picks and prospects. the teams that would be interested are all cash strapped. maybe they could move some guys for expiring contracts, like boeser for lucic. who can make trades like you propose? they need cap space for next year. we all want the perfect deals but they won't happen. what's it all about alfie?

A lot of teams already interested in Schenn.   He keeps it up and healthy, a first might be on the table.   Same with Kuzmenko.    Brock would be an underperforming player for underperforming player back.   Kind of paces our teams issues really.   Hope he gets his mojo back for everyone's sake.

One trade we could do is for Girard for Horvat.   Maybe a pick too.  Their first for our 3rd.    Girard gives us three solid guys to make pairs with,  5 x 5 which should age well, he's only 24.   And it's a deal COL media likes because if they want to repeat need to plug the Kadri hole and Mckinnon is injured.   Horvat can play on their top line right now.

Thats a re-tool play and possibly a rebuild move at the same time.   Carlo in Boston, but don't think they do that without Schenn.    And Debrusk comes back.  Not super excited about that as others might be.    Bandaid.  More if the same.  Rather do the COL deal and re-sign Schenn in the summer if possible.

Schenn actually is a good candidate to rent and re-sign in the summer given his family stuff.   Modest risk for good reward.

Edit:  Allvin can only do so much this year until cap goes up.   Twice now, again just this week, GMs want cap going up again at its reported to be at least 4.   All indications so far is it will go up.  Our team would need to move Pearson to cover raises.   Kuzmenko might be viewed as a long time player on EPs wing - if not - he's got to go.
