Horvat releases statement. It doesn't look good.

As per TSN, "I am focused on this season and playing for the Vancouver Canucks, helping the team in any way I can. I will not have any further comments this year about my future," Horvat said in the statement.

This response just seems like he has checked out and I understand why but he needs to be traded for a good package. Should have been Miller. They screwed up but maybe they should both go and get a haul.

Just get a haul for him.

He's as good as gone. Honestly I'm excited for the next chapter and a new captain for this team. We've been mediocre for way too long. It's starts from the top down and that includes our captain.

Yeah, that's a pretty cynical statement.  I mean at face value it is a standard thing to say but it's what he's not saying that is important.  He doesn't seem to have any commitment to the team beyond cash in hand.  I used to like Horvat but he's clearly putting his own interests before the team's.  I wonder what is going on behind the scenes.  I wanted him to stay but if that's his attitude good riddance.  We want people who want to play here.  Go Canucks Go!

Exactly. Usually players who want to stay, say it and he did not reiterate what he said earlier in the year. It speaks volumes. I think he's had enough of this gong show. Ownership needs to sell. I am really surprised to see a lot of people on here who are willing to keep things the same after the lack of success this team has had over a number of years. We suck yet let's sign everyone to long term contracts. Makes no sense.

I think you're reading too much into this.

It's a standard response, essentially he is giving notice that if asked again his response will be "no comment". He wants to focus on hockey.
