Popular Post OldFaithfulCap
Media: TV: Sportsnet Pacific Radio: Sportsnet 650 Overview Changes - David Bowie An eerie quiet has fallen over the Canucks since their first shutout loss of the season. Bruce deployed the bag skate and there were changes galore in both practices, with Joshua on the 1st line, miller at center, bear in the 4th pairing but these changes didn't last and there was little shakeup apart from lazar on the top line. The reality for an unpredictable team like Vancouver as time goes on is that they are just inconsistent. They have potential, but as a wise man once said potential means you aren't worth a damn thing yet. The joys of the last win streak have faded and some early season positives are fading. Miller is now goal-less in 7 games and the powerplay has gotten colder of late from it's hot start. The Canucks energy line was called out by Bieksa during the game but like the awful CBC commentary that night they never got better. The Flames have been on a roller-coaster of their own and will be quite happy to see Vancouver since they are riding a 3-game winless streak. They have struggled to score this season but they have been better at their own end thanks to ex-canuck Markstrom who is coming off a 37 save OT loss and will start tonight. Jonathan Huberdeau has only 1 goal in his last 7 games but that was in the 2-1 OT loss to Montreal. Injuries are also a concern with Chris Tanev taken to hospital after the last game but Elias Lindholm will rejoin the team. The Canucks enter game 2 of their best of the west Christmas gauntlet tonight, whatever happens hopefully we'll at least see the return of more Canucks scoring. The lack of cha-cha-changes worries me and if the flames play with the physicality of old Sutter teams then it could be an ugly night in cowtown. Im curious to see if they run with Tuesday's practice lines OEL with Schenn Hughes with Bear (the literal huggy bear line) I think it could work. Schenn has the stay at home guy that covers for OEL's defensive problems, and just let OEL go full fourth-forward mode.
Odd.
Not going to lie, that Minnesota game and the Horvat rumors have really tanked my interest at the moment. What good is it that we win when Horvat is likely to be traded. And when he is traded this team is inevitably going to sink. This team is like the Titanic …right on course to hit an iceberg. 2
