Nuxfanabroad
Let's see who has the crystal ball of epic proportions. Who gets dealt? How many prominent players are freed? What's the sequence, & who are the trading partners? Heck, I'll take a stab... 1. Blockbuster: Horvat & Q Hughes to NYI for a crap-tonne(including Dobson) 2. Garland & Hogs to CBJ 3. TP to Philly 4. Myers to Det(we retain a big chunk of $) 5. Millsy to the Canes(failed project Kotka part of the return) Again, this is predicting Van transactions post Christmas trade-freeze, all the way to the TDL. I'm guessin' JR & PA go ape... 1
HorvatToBaertschi
I'm gonna follow the Canucks decade-long trend of doing almost next to nothing at the trade deadline to help our team both in the short and long term.
DownUndaCanuck
What I'd really like to happen - full blown rebuild, trade everyone except for Petey/Hughes/Demko/OEL (out of necessity), load up on bad contracts and picks and prospects What I'd realistically like to happen - a bit of a retool if rebuild is out of the question, trade Bo for a young RD and young center, trade Myers to some desperate team, trade Boeser/Garland for a top-4 defenceman What I think will happen - Bo gets traded for a young defenceman, prospect and pick. That's all. Kuz walks in the off-season because we're stuck with all our big cap hits.
FaninMex
This management was supposed to have done something last year and we are still waiting. What makes you think they will do something now that all the teams have caped themselves out?

Oregon.Duck
I'm half expecting them to just let Horvat walk. What was that line from Spiderman? Expect nothing so do don't get disappointed?
grumpyone
how many deals? 3 between jan 1st and the trade deadline
Nucker 67
I would be okay with the Miller trade, but I think they trade Horvat. I believe Bo would bring back a better return, more teams would be willing to make a deal. Miller would be tough to move without adding a 1st or a sweetener, IMO. Horvat ==> PIT for Kasperi Kapanen and Pierre-Olivier Joseph Garland ==> BOS for Trent Frederic Boeser ==> MTL for Sean Monahan Kapanen - Miller - Monahan Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Mikheyev Pearson/Joshua - Frederic - Lazar Hughes - Schenn Joseph - Myers OEL - Bear
jyu
Well, one deal for sure. If they don't trade Horvat, that would be a massive fail. Other deals can happen during the offseason with some certainty on the cap. Miller to Canes for Kotkaniemi? So we save about 3-4 mil but get a player that is severely underperforming. Why not? We are rebuilding anyways. Would be great if the Canes add a 1st or a blue chip prospect in return.

Had a decent rookie year, then sophomore slump, then Covid hit and a bad year, decent last year then terrible this year. Canes were betting on him but that was a huge risk giving someone almost 5 mill per whose best season was 34 pts. Huge risk if we were to take him back, that contract could be another anchor. Kotka's contract is risky. But Miller's contract is also a huge risk. If they add a good prospect or a 1st, I'd consider it. Canes may do this deal if they want a player that can contribute offence immediately. 1

Downside could be worse with Miller. Kotkameanie has one of them under-25 deals, where a buyout is like 800k(few yrs of 400k), x eternity. Very lengthy, yet digestible! You could give the punk a yr or two to straighten out, then exercise this buyout if it don't happen. Canes are good, but last PO appeared a popgun-offense. JTM would likely move his ample arse under Brindamour's glare.
DownUndaCanuck
I have a real feeling we'll see Boeser for Monahan happen. Just flip a winger for a center to replace Bo. Then we'll probably see Bo go for a young defenceman and 1st. If we want to stay competitive we need two top-4 defencemen but sadly I think that's all that will happen. We really just need to end up with +2 defencemen and -2 forwards out of this whole situation and try to still have 3 decent centers at the end of the day. I'd quite like this: 1) Horvat + Burroughs for Roslovic + Peeke + 2nd 2) Boeser for Severson or Dumba Anything on top of that probably won't happen (eg. Myers for a 2nd or 3rd, Garland for a 2nd) but will be next off-season's problem to try and re-sign Kuzmenko. Even those above trades make our team much more balanced though and dare I say, give us a shot at being a better team: Mikheyev - Pettersson - Kuzmenko Garland - Miller - Hoglander Pearson - Roslovic - Dries Joshua - Lazar - Studnicka Hughes - Peeke OEL - Dumba Schenn - Myers

If anything Monahan is a better fit there and can likely be signed for a lot less than Boeser’s AAV. I’d bet real money that Boeser for Monahan doesn’t happen

I wonder if Car would retain to like 4 mill and we also get say Nikishin. Kotks has good size and decent at faceoffs, if he improved his offensive game and put up 30-35 pts consistently, he would be a perfect 3c.

This team's still so delusional in thinking it can still compete, so I don't think they'll make many moves at all.

Fanuck
Let's consider this, two months ago Jim Rutherford said 'very difficult decisions' would need to be made if things didn't turn around - they didn't, and he ended up sending 3 totally inconsequential guys to Abbotsford as a result. So there's that......
