Miller is a good player right now, but that contract is going to be an anchor in a few years. I have to believe that there aren't teams who could use him in a playoff push. (If there's anyone in that position with the Cap room) Take the lesser deal, if it means freeing up that money. WE're going to need it for Petey's next deal. I'm not sold on the idea that it'll be an anchor. Someone like Bo, who doesn't have a terribly strong hockey IQ to make plays, relies on his speed a lot has a better chance of regressing to become an anchor, but Miller has a high IQ to read and make plays, so I could see him adapting nicely to still stay productive in his later years. 1 2

Yeah he can fall back on his stellar defensive play and faceoff abilities or maybe his over time giveaways will be what keeps his value. Oh I know it’s having tantrums and yelling at teammates. Or maybe it’s not being liked by his teammates His hockey IQ lolololol. Is his hockey IQ why he was so terrible for the first three months this season ? now horvat has low hockey IQ. what’s next? his cooking 1 1 1

I hope you're right, J..... because I don't think there's a chance in Hades that PA will be able to trade JTM.....not unless he retains a big chunk of that contract.

The problem is that sometimes he's too lazy to get back to the stove and the food gets burnt.....

Miller's defensive play at centre is already much improved, and I commend him for continuing to try and be a better player. Miller has been the whipping boy through the losing yet Bo always got a free pass from fans because he's such a nice guy. And did I say that Bo has low hockey IQ or did I say that he doesn't have "terribly strong hockey IQ to make plays"? Do you even understand the point I made, or are you too busy throwing your own tantrum to pick up what I'm putting down? Maybe you can offer an actual rebuttal? 1 2

It’s not worth your time… these Miller haters would be crying about who he handed the cup to if he packed the team on his back to a championship, you’re right his hockey IQ is very high it’s been his work ethic at times that has been questionable and the complete opposite with Bo his work ethic is undeniably inspiring but he doesn’t have the natural hockey IQ to drive plays… hence bumper roll on the power play 1

Cameron88188
Miller is an absolute tank! That intensity and desire to win is what we need more of. An American who took less to be here should be praised (ie Gaudreau). These media pundits should focus on our real problems (ie aging defence) and not Miller! 1

I'd say it's exactly what I said it was going to be, which is Miller on his best behaviour for a new coach for the remainder of the year. He'll be back t his regularly scheduled programming by next year.

For real, though, a new coach that actually holds players accountable could go a long way, as the more players who put in the effort and aren't passengers, the more likely Miller is to see that the effort is there. RT sits guys when they don't step up, even sitting Miller early on, so although you may be right, I lean more towards seeing this team improve next year and Miller going back to last year's second half version of JT. 1

People act like Miler has had one or two downturns in his game and his attitude over the years. It's been far, far more than that..........he's given us many more reason to be skeptical than trusting he's turned a corner.
HKSR
Since Bo has left, Miller has gone 31 wins and 24 losses on 55 draws -- good for a 56.3% faceoff winning percentage. Miller has stepped up every facet of his game since Bo has left. Open up your eyes and try and see what is actually happening rather than trying to FIND things to complain about. 1

It's a double-edged sword, so when this team starts getting good, he drives the bus. Fix the team's lineup and he will be an absolutely rare beast. If Miller puts up 50+ points per season at 36 to 38 years of age, I'd be happy with that. $8M on the cap hit 9 years from now will be a much smaller % of the upper cap limit. At 35 years old, the Sedins were still putting up 70+ point seasons. That's pretty on par with what a current $8M player should be doing lol

I don't really have a big problem with Miller....it's just that I want a full rebuild around Petey, Huggy and Kuz. I'd like to see as many vets moved for picks and prospects as possible. 1
