Watched Leschyshyn play a lot of junior and never understood the buzz other than the last name. Not particularly big bodied or skilled or fast. To be fair Gaunce lead the league in defensive zone starts and finished his career in Vancouver with 5 goals over 40 games which is around a 10 goal pace (solid metric for a 4th liner) and also an even rating and solid underlying status on a team that was absolutely bleeding. (The Sedins were -21 and -22, Sam Gagner -18, Reid Boucher a -12 in 20 games). It was dumb to try and get him to play as a winger instead of a defensive centre. Gaunce was a good player who was so horribly developed. It is a shame because I think he could have carved out a solid NHL career. He did make the Jackets lineup over Jack Roslovic for a game so I guess that is a positive.
