Where was our owner?

I think he’s still teaching lessons in the locker room like… how to drop the soap. Its supposed to be “dont drop the soap” but as we all know Aquaweenie likes to do the opposite of what everyone asks and does this his own way.

Hopefully some, if not the majority, of season ticket holders choose not to renew. This shoddy organization is rife with idiocy and should have as little support as possible until there's a definite direction determined by management (highly doubtful with the clowns in charge).

The players (for the most part) have checked out, so the fans should as well. I have a feeling that the next homestand will be really ugly.

I believe if they signal a true rebuild by trading some assets and "going for Bedard" the fans will get behind it and show up for the young guys, even if they continue to lose.

Even if they don't get lucky at the lottery and land Bedard, the fans will appreciate the honest assessment of the team and will root for the team. I know i would be more invested if they just went along with a full rebuild around Petey, Hughes and Demko.

This is the way to send a real message. Or if you have pull. Find a Billionaire you think would do a good job with ownership, and get them to buy the team.

My friend was a long time season ticket holder fanatic until recently (just before JB let go), and got turned off finally by the commute, late nights, team not providing entertainment and costs involved to see a team of players not earning their paychecks (she is an owner of over 100 employees herself) and even now has NO interest to watch a Canucks game for free on TV, The fan(atic) in her as a Canuck fan is done, she only enjoys the World Juniors and Olympics now

Could it be they were busy actually trying to do their real jobs, and improve the team in an extremely difficult flat cap environment across the league instead of catering to a bunch of whiny bitching fans?

I don't know if the former is true, but the latter has some merit.

Well, they haven’t done a damn thing, so that can’t be it.   Lol.

JR’s job is exactly that.   To represent the team and answer to the ‘whiny bitching’ fans.
If he did his f’n job right and set out a plan and followed it, then you could be correct.
But the old clown has done the exact opposite what he said to begin with, and then taken a year and a half long nap.

At least with Benning, he would try shit.
He had no plan either, but you could tell he wanted to do a good job.

JR doesn’t give a shit about the Canucks

I can't find any confirmation on how long Allvin signed for.  There is confirmation JR signed a 3 year deal last year.  If Allvin's contract was expiring this year we would have heard about it, he would be a lame duck GM.  I would assume he also signed a 3 year deal and it expires next year.  Not sure about the rest of the crew though...

I believe (speculating), that JR really doesn't want to go for more than 3 years. I think he wants to go back into retirement and that's reflected in the article the other day from Pittsburgh. My belief was, that he would build a new management team and try and put the on-ice team on a path to success and then either retire again completely, or step back into a consulting role and let the new group take things forward from there.

My feeling is that Aqualini will give them through this summer to get the team moving the right way before he makes a decision on whether or not to start again with a fresh management team.

We need a young Pat Quinn again to really do what's needed and make the moves that are needed.

I would much rather they be working on meaningful trades than attending a crappy meet and greet.

I would imagine they are smart enough to know that hollow words are pointless. We need to see action.

Give Sakic a third of ownership to be President and GM?

Apparently this past weekend (According to what was stated on the Donnie & Dhali show) the annual STH's/Members only meeting was held at Rogers, where the STH's get to meet and ask questions of the Canucks management.   Well believe it or not, neither Rutherford, Alvin or any of the Chipmunk Girls bothered showing up and dis-appeared out of sight leaving Stan Smyl on the Hot-Seat to answer angry fans questions.     In the over 20+ years I was a STH, I never saw such a thing happen - ever - and is a slap in the face of the remaining STH's and to many displays cowardice and disrespect towards the paying customers and leaves many wondering why and what they are truly hiding from by staying out of the public eye.

How do you hold players accountable if management won’t face the music.  I was reading Brian Burke’s book over the holidays and he described calling season ticket cancellations and going on local radio to help provide the fans confidence.  These guys need to learn to build bridges with the fans/community

Didn’t Canucks management stop doing those STH meetings after Linden left? Seems to me that the last “town hall” was several years back and they haven’t really had one since (until now).

I seem to remember Benning getting booed by a significant portion of the crowd one year and him generally getting some pretty rough treatment (albeit deserved) from the fans and then the next year the event was cancelled. Then Covid happened, of course, so they couldn’t hold any events for a while. But I think this is the first year they’ve done it again since maybe 2018.

I could be wrong. Just going off memory here and I never paid too much attention to those STH “town hall meetings” anyway.

Aqualini is never going to give someone, essentially, 300 million (Canucks with a winning record would be close to a billion dollar valuation), to be President and GM.

We need to find someone up and coming who can do it. I think Linden was a good choice, but I don't believe there was alignment in overall team direction. We need someone who is a solid business person as President and someone like a Brian Burke or Pat Quinn (RIP) who would handle GM. I know that everyone gives Dave Nonis a hard time, but he put together one of the biggest landmark trades in the history of this team. He swung for the fences when he moved Bertuzzi and got Luongo back.

Sakic is pretty happy in Denver. Basically you'd need a massive inducement to get him to leave. Who is "up and coming" as a GM or AGM? I'm not disagreeing with you.

It's Sakic has had success already. And he clearly learned fast.
