Looks like you guys were off by just a couple of years, this was the last thread I could find. I would have guessed 2014 as well but looking back it makes sense that it took people a couple of years to catch on that we were being led to the trough and fed a bunch of absolute BS. I believe the direction for this organization was set before either Benning or even Linden even stepped into their roles. Gillis was already set on doing a rebuild when he traded Schneider and drafted Horvat with that pick. He then attempted to trade Kesler to Anaheim for futures at the trade deadline before the owner stepped in and nixed that trade. Bob Murray when he eventually traded for Kesler admitted that his offer was much better at the deadline. Kesler became public enemy number 1 when his trade demand leaked, wouldn't be surprised if his trade list shrunk right around that time as well. Benning of course then went out and did exactly what the owner wanted which was to find pieces that would improve the team ie. Sbisa and Bonino. The latter was a key asset for the Ducks at the time, they were loathe to part with him, he was cheap, played center and was the ideal 3rd line center for a contender.

I believe the town halls were cancelled because the President and GM had to answer for all the inconsistent messaging that they provided. They had to step in and be the shield for all the arrows and slings that should have been directed towards our owner. IIRC one of the STH gave their ticket away to one of the popular twitter Canucks fan accounts (might have been Taj) and that's when they had to cancel the event. There don't seem to be any videos of the event but I wouldn't be surprised if there more than a few people who attended who were just showing up to be instigators (ie. Rebel media types). Its imperative that we ask questions of those who are in positions of power, but there are a few clowns that ruin it all for the rest of us. Its like the fools who paid for a banner that said 'Fire Jim Benning', when the banner really should have said 'Sell the team Aquilini'.

We had town halls ever year until Covid.  Some years they even fed us burgers and free beers and the best year was the year they let us roam the entire stadium hallways trying out any and all food made by each kiosk with free beer!!!.   It's only been on hold since Covid. I know because I've been a STH for well over 20 years.   Most importantly, we always had the Mgmt show up and take any & all questions.  It's just unthinkable to see no one out of the entire front-line mgmt group had the courage to show up!  It's unforgiveable!

If we let our fans run the team, we'd probably have poor results as well.

Yup.  That’s why I’m not a fan who thinks our owner should be selling.  I think he’s a good owner.  He spends a lot on the team.  He just is acting too much like a fan, when he’s setting the direction for management to follow.  Like you say, almost all fans would set a direction, even if it’s a bad one.  Best to hire the best and then let them do what they believe to be best.  Not too sure who those managers would be though?

Then don’t renew.   Plus, it’s the owner who is getting the money, so it’s him who fans should expect at these meetings.  If someone has been a season ticket owner for 20 years then they’ve seen Nonis, Gillis, Benning, and this new group.  But the owner is the same.  Direct questions to him, because these other people are his to hire and fire, which he’s done often.

My question to @RU SERIOUS is why you need to add a gender to the chipmunks?

A. Derek Clancy, is he a girl?

B. Why does their gender matter?

C. Could you tell the difference between a male and a female in the wild?

D. The female chipmunks were called the Chipettes.

I get you don't like the assistant gm's,  but just call them chipmunks.

So management didn’t show up but disappeared out of sight too?  Which is it, because obviously they can’t do both.  Did they show up and then disappear, or did they just not show up at all?

left town or hid under their desks

I knew it was going to be a challenge,” Rutherford said. “We had some work to do to improve the team. It’s probably been a little bigger challenge than I expected in trying to unravel the cap situation here. The sooner we can do that, the sooner we can move forward and improve the team.

He literally said this just the other day.  It sounds like they understand just fine.

that would make sense, if

they din't sign JT and Brockturddler to anchor contracts

but since they did

it makes no sense at all

I havent seen or heard anything from aqualini since the scandal that was on his plate, i usally see twittter posts by him, im shocked hes allowed this mess to conintue, its his money hes losing not JR or alvin , people need to boycott in going to games and demand change either sell all the players and get bedard or fix this mess of a def and goaltending

just because we can score goals doesn't mean the forwards are set up yet either

still can't kill penalties or grind out a game

it's not just the D and G

too many smurffs

and what the heckle and jeckle happened to Joshua?

remember when we thought he was good?

it seems like he hasn't thrown a hit since Hallowe'en

Are those the same people? Because I'm pretty sure most of us tankers are in the post game after every loss thrilled that we are one step closer to the Bedard lottery

I'm happy when they win because I mean come on, it's hockey and it's Canucks, I can't help it... but I'm not upset when they lose right now. I'm done with the mushy middle, pick a direction... and you can't really just pick "up" towards being a cup contender these days with a stunted trade market, and free agency with no cap space.

There are good fans.  Maybe its just bad ones that are too loud?

Here are some snippets from front page yesterdays PGT;

At least this last one has some satire?

What a pathetic Management/Ownership group. Feel bad for Stan Smyl he should gtfo as fast as possible, he doesn't deserve to be treated like this.

I think Stan is complicit in this

remember those crocodile tears, (ok there weren't any tears, but) that heart felt statement when Ol' JImmer and Greenie got fired?

Stan has been part of this whole fiasco for decades now.

He is the original "Linden" show up when Aqua needs a former Canuck to sooth the rabid fans

IDK what Stan actually does, but he is nearly a decade younger than Rutherford,

so why not step up and do something

rather than whatever it is that he does between heart felt statements and subbing for management no-shows

as the old saying goes, "If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem"

what soluting doth stan do?

Yep!  Doesn’t look good.
I’m not saying that they’ve made the right moves or will do in the future.

You can’t say they don’t know that we have the wrong mix of players.  Clearly they do

You know,

I just did a rant of the fact I think that the Chipmunk Girls were a publicity stunt and new Jimmer spent most of his FO building time concentrating on making the Canucks diverse.

so, the question is, "Is diverse the root of diversion? Or is it the other way around?"

Spittin some hard facts there, I can’t say I disagree with you. When the NHL awards are given out this summer , we are a shoe in for the the inaugural inclusivity cup.

By why point out their girls? We had just as many terrible seasons with guys as gm and assistant gm's. There's literally no reason to bring up their gender. It doesn't matter if it's publicity or not. I get you don't like inclusion, but was Benning and the boys better? No one once called out the fact they were all men. Now that there's girls you you like to point out their gender?
