Remember lacing them isn’t really rebuilding. And this is exactly what our owner has directed management to do. How different this team would look like with $14 million in cap space (esp. when there's talks of scratching them so that we can ice our best units, which include guys like Bear, Dermott, Schenn who all make a fraction of what they make...). Miller makes it a 3-man race, given his lack of effort on defense and attitude issues (pretty much yelling at Delia to go to the net). -AJ- Posted January 12 Share Posted January 12 Not so much a realistic wish list, but I voted for the following: Myers - Not a horrible defenseman, but not worth his contract. OEL - Same as above--not that bad, but grossly overpaid. Miller - Effective player, but not a fan of how poorly he controls his reactions when emotional. Will also very likely become grossly overpaid in future years. Fairly untradeable at this point due to circumstances of just signing and extension with trade protection coming in. Poolman - Overpaid and also always injured. I don't think he'll play another NHL game. Stillman - He's a #7 at best and I think there are better options even there. Probably should be a top 4 AHL guy instead. The maybes: Boeser - My favourite off-ice player, but on ice isn't as good as I hoped he would be, even if his offense has picked up a tiny bit this year. Relatively short deal, but a bit overpaid at this point. Could provide the space or even be traded for defense. Garland - Love him, but he's struggling this year. His contract is more reasonable though, so probably more tradeable than Boeser, despite producing less. Pearson - Injured a lot this year, but wasn't doing well to start the year. Not extremely expensive, but a bit too much for what he brings. Limited NTC this year makes him a little harder to move, but limits are only a 7-team no-trade list, so not highly restrictive.
