Good PR woukd buy themselves time without lying to the public and those supporting the team.

In other words, that’s a pretty long straw he’s using to blow smoke…

I think the Hughes comment definitely caught them off guard. They probably thought they had a handle to TP's injury or at least we're in agreement on a plan and then Hughes' comment created a lot of uncertainty.

Don't get me wrong, I do think this org needs to do a way better job communicating. It's a mess. But I didn't really expect any other answer to come out of the President's office.

Could you imagine if JR said the truth and the truth happened to be one of the following?

- Yeah I have no idea what's going on with my players.

- Yeah the medical staff really sh*t the bed on this one.

- Pearson being on LTIR is actually good for us.

-Quinn is a liar and needs to shut his mouth.

I'd kinda prefer the soft media approach to the can of worms that would open up if they said any of those. Lol

I’m wondering who the surgeon was that messed up 9n th3 first operation?  Was he the team’s choice?  Did TP get a second opinion and the club insisted he goes with their option anyway?  If TP got a second opinion, and the club doctors agreed he could follow that course and have his preferred doctor do the surgery, and it turns out like we see now, then does Hughes say anything? I don’t think the players would be upset unless the club messed up.  So it kind of leads to TP got a second opinion but the club went with their guy.

I find it funny that Sid Seixeiro was saying that Vancouver is the worst run team in the NHL. (Well we're not playing in a 5000 seat stadium that our AHL team has a LARGER arena) I'm not saying Ownership and management isn't bad. It is.

But he seems to completely forgotten how bad Toronto was under the Ballard regime.

Well, we certainly aren’t one of the better run clubs. I also don’t think he was saying we are the worst run club ever.
Even if we ignore the lack of clear direction, the overvaluing of players, inability to move roster player and the continued trading off of pics and prospects during what should be a rebuild, we have been a mess from a PR perspective.

‘The allegations against FA in camp (outside of management control but still bad look)

‘Rachel Dorrie mess

the almost scratch of BB on hockey fights cancer night.

Tanner Pearson

JR constantly attacking the coach, and inexplicably keeps advertising he didn’t know he had a 2 year contract.
JR constantly saying how the team isn’t good enough publicly.
JR waxing poetic to the Pittsburgh media how he should have retired a Penguin.
The list is growing every day and I probably forgot a couple things.

I think there is fair argument that we have one of if not the worst run clubs out there.  Add to that we have been following the lead of the Ballard Leafs, middling team that constantly thinks all they need is just one more UFA to be competitive.

I wonder if our owner, when he knew he was firing Benning-Brod, talked to several potential President candidates and they all said no (unless they got to set the club’s direction) except for JR?

From the other side, some times complications happen and it isn’t really a blame issue but people always look to blame someone. Maybe QH doesn’t have a sophisticated understanding of the medical issues but is concerned and frustrated for a friend and teammate.
‘Don’t know if there was a mess up or not at this point and glad that JR is investigating it as that is appropriate. But to just assume that the doctor screwed up because recovery hasn’t been as hoped is jumping a lot of steps ahead.

It sounded more like FA wanted someone experienced with a championship pedigree and identified JR. This is what many had been asking for with JB, an experienced president. Not the one I would have chosen but certainly a well connected one.

Maybe the team's choice was forced on TP and it was the wrong direction for the specific injury?  Why would Hughes speak up, about that being handled wrong, unless the club chose the wrong treatment?

TP has connection in LA, so maybe he found a second opinion of treatment (.different surgery?) but the team said no? Otherwise, there would be no reason for Hughes to say what he did.

So FA only interviewed JR?  Does the league have a list of “trusted” ol’ boys that are preferred hires to protect the brand?  Don’t want any guys speaking out publicly against their ownership and the league.  FA hiring Gillis and then Linden might have been considered risky from the league’s point of view.  Two guys who didn’t come up through normal league channels.  Gillis especially.

I understand your opinion, mine differs.
One thing we agree on is the poor communication coming from this management .
Enough of the calculated damage control, failed or inaccurate injury reports and side-stepping responsibility. They are just digging themselves deeper and deeper into every hole they create.

Imo it’s past time to answer honestly as to what’s going on and what can be expected going forward. Starting to wonder if they even know.

Bruces last game.

I doubt he’s the coach when the Canucks come home regardless.

team needs a scapegoat for the massive level of incompetence and total disaster this circus of stupid has been.

The root of the issues remains - sell the team.

Say hellyeo to new coach yeo.
hope they extend him and fire him to.
the more money FA wastes the happier I feel.
fingers crossed lots of buyouts coming.

When Bruce is gone we’ll have two coaches being paid not to be here lol. The Vancouver paid holidays.

This game Has a blow out feel to it.

Probably the only guy that would answer the phone when FA called.

the list of people willing to work for that idiot is probably getting pretty short.
rookies will be about the only ones willing to risk their reputations here. Which is perfect for  FA since it’s an easier time controlling them.

I don't think he understands the repercussions for running a business like this and the unrepairable damage he has caused. Once you get a bad reputation and to add the years of terrible decision making, it gets around the league that players shouldn't come to this organization and I think it's going to become difficult to attract players without severely overpaying them and I think that might still not be enough. I just think he's toxic owner who now has a bad reputation to his name. Yes he spends to the cap but you have to be more than just about money to people and that seems to be all he cares about. The media says he wants to win so badly but does he not understand you have to build the team first. Everything seems backwards. He doesn't get it.

The only surgeon on the Canucks staff is Bill Regan.  He's not a new hire (been at it for over 20 yrs).   It doesn't mean he did the surgery though.  Also, just because TP needed more than one surgery doesn't mean the surgeon messed up.  He may have had complications, poor healing, infection etc.  Sh#t happens.

The rest of them are not orthopedic surgeons.

It's very interesting to note the importance of coaching.

Under Q and then Brunette inheriting Q's system, Panthers were flying. Paul Maurice goes there and all that talent is for naught?

On the other hand, Jets team that is more or less the same team as last season is having an excellent season.
