Hot take: Anyone actually cheering for us to win is short sighted.

For those who disagree, answer me this: What does us winning a few more games and still missing the playoffs achieve?

Padding player stats so we can trade them for more picks and prospects?

Overview

It's the time of the season where we all need some music to keep going. "Big tank wheels keep on turning", "Tank roll on..." and "Would you like to tank for Bedard- it doesn't have to be for Bedard" are various variations of songs in my head in present. Wednesday was a fine small tribute to Gino and the unveiling of the new skate but otherwise the Canucks are "still the same moving game to game".The Bedard Bowl games have been favourable to the Canucks of late, so while a win is welcome, we are just 2 points out of 5.

With no practice yesterday we await the lines in the morning skate. We may see dermott back, or even Stillman. In net Colin Dellia is starting to show more consistency than Martin, and let in less goals, so he may be the starter tonight. Kuzmenko scored last game and hopefully we will see him reunited with Mik and Pettey. Quinn Hughes also continued to rack up goals, and may be able to hit double-figures at this rate.

For the Avs, they are hungry for the Wildcard spot. Makar sat out the Flames win with injury and is questionable for tonight and they still have some other key players out. Despite this they defeated Calgary last game and will look to defeat Vancouver for the first time this season. Players to watch are Rantanen (3 goals against Van so far this season) and Lehkonen has 5 goals in his last 3 games and has yet to score against the Canucks. Nathan MacKinnon is also 3 points back of 700 career points as well so yet another potential milestone to worry about. We may see Francouz in net with Georgiev saved for the Kraken who the Avs play tomorrow night.

We can hope for a good game tonight, win or lose, "On days like these, You've got to find it in some other way It's all or nothing".

(Bonus nothing points if you can name all the songs)

Canucks stats

  • Both Martin and Delia have a win over the Avs this season
  • Last 5 games - Miller (2g, 3a), Hughes( 3g, 6a), Horvat (1g, 4a), Garland (2g, 1a), Boeser (2g,2a), Pettersson (1g,4a), Kuzmenko (1g, 3a),

Avs stats

  • Center Nathan MacKinnon is the team's active leader in career points against the Canucks, with 23 (8G/15A) in 22 games played. 1 assist in 2 games against the Canucks this season.
  • Forward Mikko Rantanen is second with 22 (11G/11A) in 14 contests. He has scored 3 goals against the Canucks this season.
  • Mikko Rantanen scored two goals in the team's win over Calgary to reach 31 tallies this season. Reaching 30 goals in his 43rd game, Rantanen is the fastest player in Avalanche history to reach the 30-goal mark in a season. The previous record was held by Joe Sakic, who scored 30 goals in 44 contests in 1995-96.
  • Erik Johnson played in his 900th NHL game on Wednesday, becoming the 29th American-born defenseman in NHL history to appear in 900 regular-season contests
  • Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon will join teammate Cale Makar on Central Division All-star roster

That can only happen between now and the deadline, and that can still be done by losing lol. Boeser can get super hot and we can still lose, and likely will. We still have AHL goaltending and a bad defense, so I'm all for tradeable players getting hot, but winning more games still does nothing.

I'm just looking at the bright side. The more goals and points players get the more likely might pull off a win. The winning is the negative side effect.

Professional hockey players don't want to lose (Maybe some just care about that money). At this point wins don't help, but it's unrealistic to think we're going to lose

38 games in a row, any more than we will win 38 games in a row.
