So what’s the problem? BB don’t have any problem with it. It’s business…
rychicken
Letting the coach go created two jobs - one for Tocchet, and this one...someone has to do the payroll work for the 3 coaches

The only difference in this situation, is that media trolls felt it was their civil duty to report on these rumored discussions, and then add in their personal opinion. Then continue to hound the canucks & Bruce throughout the whole process in order to keep the story relevant. Management could have handled things differently, but don't think for a second that media, both local and in toronto didnt play a significant role in making the situation way worse. When you see articles like "Ex player disagrees with handling of Bruce situation" Or "Canuck managements decision disgraceful" Are B.S. headlines made to immediately convince the reader to believe nothing but this fact. While I really do like Bruce, his treatment was only bad because no one in media had the balls to go against the grain of popular opinion, an opinion being shoved down our collective throats by the Elliot Friedmans of the world, and state that Bruce's systems were flawed from the start, and a change was not only needed but expected. 1

Thank you. Well said. The hysteria around this story is another example of the national media's obsession with needling the Canucks at every opportunity to make them look as bad as they can. NHL on Rome's hit CBC and Mclean on Burrows complaint Everyone dogpiling on Bertuzzi It would be great if not so many good loyal fans, like we have here on CDC, didn't fall for it too. This is a manufactured outrage story. I liked Bruce too. I thought they should have kept him on longer, even the end of the season, given him that option if he wanted to, and shopped for a coach after the season. But whatever....they found their man. A change was needed. Everyone knew. Tocchet had a contract with TNT he had to work out and couldn't leave on the spot. Sure they could have yanked Bruce from the job overnight, two weeks earlier, and elevated Yeo to stand in until Tocchet was free, but would that have really made much difference? I'll bet if you asked Bruce, he'd say he'd like to coach as many games as he could have. There's nothing to be sad about for Bruce. He's had a wonderful life, playing and coaching in the best sport league in the world. And earning millions doing it. And unlike most coaches, was serenaded off the bench in his final game by adoring fans.
