[proposal] 2 trades, our 3 best trade assets, address 5 immediate needs

Recommended Posts

Trade #1

To Detroit: Horvat, with extension in place

To Van: Kasper, Rasmussen, 2023 1st

Kasper is our future 2C. Starts in Abby.

Age: 18
Ht/Wt: 6-1/192
Drafted: 2022 round one, eighth overall by Detroit Red Wings

In his D+1 year and second full season in the SHL, the Austrian pivot has already matched his previous seasons’ point totals in a third of the games played. Kasper already has international experience at the World juniors and the World Championship as an 18-year-old.

Kasper is a complete player, has good size, is a good skater, with good offensive and defensive instincts. He may lack elite individual skill but Kasper is on a fast track to a top-six role and likely second-line center.

Rasmussen auditions for 3C and adds size 6’6,” 210, 23 yrs old, from Surrey

Detroits is 3 pts out of a wildcard spot - their 1st projects to be the highest of the teams rumoured to be interested in Horvat

Trade #2

To Vegas: Kuzmenko, Schenn

To Van: Korczak, 2024 2nd

Kuzmenko’s agent asks for too much, so we send him to Vegas, who are tight to the cap. Vegas upgrades their top 6 and PP, while replacing KK with Schenn

Korczak, a 6’3”, 192lb RD, partners with Hughes for the foreseeable future. He will be 22 this month, and is already playing top 4 minutes.

summary

  • young, NHL ready, shutdown RD
  • additional, mid round, 1st rd pick
  • future 2C
  • potential 3C
  • recouped 2024 2nd

Lineup

Hoglander - Petey - Mikheyev

Garland - Miller - Boeser

Podkolzin - Rasmussen - Studnicka

Dakota - Lazar - Lockwood

OEL - Meyers

Hi Kenny

I am not against trade #1...............I also think it is too big of ask...............Kasper and 2023-1st.........for..........Horvat ............I'd be ok with that

Cheers Jan. I’m not clear on Rasmussen's value - thought maybe he hasn’t lived up to his draft pedigree, so would be the ‘serviceable NHLer’ in this trade

Have heard others suggest a Hronek + Rasmussen + 1st return from DET for Horvat, which would also fit nicely with team needs...

Add your trade #2 for Korczak. Plus trade Myers in the off season. Maybe bring back Schenn too if possible. Sign a solid 3C such as Compher.

Next season lineup becomes:

Podz Pettersson Boeser

Hogs Miller Mikheyev

Rasmussen Compher Garland

Joshua Pedersen Lazar

Hughes Hronek

OEL Korczak

Dermott Schenn

Rathbone Bear

Demko

Backup

They also have Copp and Suter. Looks like Rasmussen is playing 2LW

https://www.capfriendly.com/depth-charts/redwings

Forgot about Copp. If they had a Larkin-Horvat-Copp as their top 3 Cs that would be a good base to build a top 9.

Suter doesn't seem to take as many draws and play at C. Appears to be more a swiss army knife type forward.

They could part with both but the question is of whether or not wanting to spend that amount or wait till FA. DET are also closer to the bottom than to the playoffs this year. Even with Horvat it would still be highly unlikely they make it this year. That 1st likely is a lottery one which they may not want to part with.

It's tough to say. Do they really want to spend that amount or wait till FA?

Does he play on the right side?

2019 2nd round 35th overall. 6'5" 205lbs RD

Today is his 22 year old birthday.

He helped Denver win the NCAA title but now is playing his first pro season in the Liiga.

He has 4 goals and 11 assists in 41 games as a rookie.

Rather go for Edvinsson, Tuomisto, 2nd.

Draft our centre in this upcoming draft, top 10 is loaded. Get creative for finding RHD.

I don't think they move Edvinsson. Top 5 prospect in the league and potential Hedman. Probably willing to part with Wallinder who's still a great LD prospect.

I think we get either Rasmussen or Kasper, not both.

They need one as 3rd C and in case they lose Larkin.

Plus the value doesn't make sense otherwise.

Agreed, it's Rasmussen OR Kasper, plus the 2023 1st (with let's say top 10 protected).
