So, my take on this, everything was set to hire Tocchet days, if not a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't want to put him in place when the team was heading into a really hard stretch of opponents. They let Bruce take the losses so that the new coaching group would have a good chance of starting with a winning streak.

Although I agree in principle with taking the team in a new direction coaching wise, they should have waited till summer and then done a full sweep. In the meantime, they should have supported Bruce better, the management team did nothing to improve our defense during summer, and the Stillman trade REALLY fizzled.

I look at this as a defining moment for JR and management team, they need to be held to accountability for handling this whole situation and how this new coaching staff performs through the end of the year, as well as the trades they make at the deadline.

They have made their defining move, their clock is now ticking, loudly.

Tocchet is doomed to fail.

Win and you have fans angry about worsening draft position.

Lose, well the coach is an idiot and bad hire.

"Our players will now be playing the games via Zoom".

Now stand for the national anthem.

Which staff member controls which player?

Also, will Foote have to bring his laptop onto the ice to demonstrate for Hughes or will one of the equipment guys have to follow him on the ice?

So many questions…

At the end of the day, we’ll see how it goes, but I thought Tocchet did well overall and had some good thoughts / answers. I can’t stand the assumptions / pre-judgement from some on here. Give him a chance (and I talking strictly from a coaching perspective). Some on here want to judge / hate just to judge / hate!

Also, I understand being critical / upset about how things have gone re: this team, especially with Bruce. That made me sick!!! It can be frustrating sometimes, I get it…..I’ve been a fan since 88. But, the constant & consistent ignorance, immaturity and toxic negativity from some fans (some on this site) is f’n disgusting!! I won’t mention names, but some of the stuff some people have said, especially the last few days definitely crosses lines.

As frustrating as things have been, I will always root for this team to succeed and hopefully win a cup in my lifetime, which means wanted everyone in this organization to succeed. Rooting for them to fail or tearing them down isn’t the attitude I want to see or portray…and that doesn’t mean I like or agree with everything before someone gets their knickers in a knot.

I’ve seen / heard enough negativity / hate lately…I’m going to choose positivity and as always….

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

He said he will be there for the Bruce Chant this coming Hawks game!!! Will be an interesting game and how the fans will react.

If the fans in Seattle really want to start a rivalry and rub it in during the Van v. Krak game, when they score they should chant "Bruce there it is".

As I'm scrolling through the hate, I'm trying to guess the ages of some. My guess is there are a lot of teenagers and 20-somethings here, judging by the immaturity and angst. It's getting a little silly.

I miss the days when Canucks fans were united and cheered for the team, instead of name-calling and attacking people's character. The fanbase seems divided and I'm not digging it.

I have faith that JR and his team (including Tocchet) will figure this out and make the Canucks competitive again. We'll see. We don't know what the future holds, but some are already expecting failure and misery. Sad.

Go Canucks Go

Love this! Just posted almost the same thing.
