Alflives
I think management’s plan is to have Tocchet try to get the players to play the right way. That’s to make the sacrifices (to their stats and bodies) to make the hard plays. Guys who refuse to play like that will be the ones moved out. Whether that’s by trade or buyout, they will be gone. The elephant in the room is what Seravelli mentioned on 650 yesterday. He said the most successful clubs don’t have OWNERS WHO MEDDLE IN HOCKEY OPS. He said it’s known management wanted to move on from Bruce last summer, but our owner wouldn’t allow it. 1

Despite the new hirings, the roster is playoff fodder at best and no cup is coming but the rise to the middle will be enough to fill the seats. combover
We will see he played in a different era, hockey was meaner over all. players now just like a lot of the youth don’t respond to that old school yell and scream style they just shut down. This reminds me of torts coming in except the management hired Tocchett not the owner. unfortunately for the fans who see this club isn’t going anywhere this management will want their guy to look good so I can see things happening to achieve some winning down the meaningless draft position ruining stretch which is now the path we’ve once again chose. Only to be woken up next Christmas with a middle bottom pack team…. Why learn from mistakes when you can just keep making the same ones over and over and over and over and over and over and over pt% for tocchetts .444 im not holding my breath on anything other than green willie like coaching and the Return of plug love Vancouver hockey. Toyotasfan
Impeccable resume as both a coach and a player. 3 time Stanley cup champ , once as a player twice as a coach. A 50 goal scorer that would drop the gloves with Probert to spark his team. and yet there ‘a that blemish in his career as Head coach of Arizona that put him in Travis Green territory

He actually had that team dreadful team playing +.500 hockey and even made it to the playoffs once. BTW, did you hear that Travis Green and Tocchet are very good friends. When Rick was asked to take on the Canucks coaching job, he called Travis and asked is he should take it; Green told him to 'go for it'.

We are an easy team to play against. We need more role players like Schenn that plays tough and hard every shift. That will create more room for the skill players on the ice. When you see our young players get hit hard and when no one stands up for them is sickening to watch. This happened a few times on Podz and Hoggie and Bo was right there and didn't do anything and just skated away. The entire culture of the team needs to change and this is one of many major issue the Canucks have for a very long time.
VegasCanuck
So, just in general, I'm waiting to see how Tocchet does as coach here. I'm not holding his record from 2 teams who were REALLY struggling on talent etc, when he coached them, against him. I'm going to see how he does here with what he has available That said, if you look around the league and historically, the best coaches and managers are usually guys who were fringe players who really had to struggle to stay in the league or even just to make it to the AHL. They had to study the game at a different level and engage it to stay remotely relevant. Usually, that type of player has a different level of understanding and appreciation for talent of all kinds. So, let's see what he does! Popcorn standing by....
