higgyfan
Mikeyev on LTIR adds $4.75 (over cap) + $2.227 cap space can be used to add UFA cap dumps, which can help in trades with cap strapped teams and increase the return. If Bo is traded, I think the Bruins will be in the mix and plan to re-sign. If the Canucks can arrange for Bo to discuss an extension and he signs, Bruins add a draft pick. Boston is hungry for a SC. Adding Bo and Schenn makes their team much better. Adding Schenn brings back at least a 2nd or a comparable prospect. Bruins: Bo and Schenn ($6.35) Boston has $2.325 cap space Canucks: Craig Smith (cap dump) $3.1 UFA (Canucks take on $4.6 salary + Bruin's cap = Bo + Schenn $ Trent Frederic $1.50 RFA (can play all 3 fw positions). Lysell ELC RW R.Mast ELC RD Draft pick???? _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Islanders are in a dire need of a top 6 RW. -Wahlstrom requires a couple of years to become a top 6 and Palmieri has been struggling. NYI want to make the playoffs. Islanders available cap $3.0 after IR players return. Islanders: Boeser ($6.6mx2) Canucks: Bailey $5.0x2 (cap dump) Buy out in offseason $2.6 ('23) + $1.1 ('24) Raty C ELC _________________________________________________________________ Future Canucks... Kuze Pete Klim Hughes X Miller Raty Podz Pettersson Fabbro Mik Frederic Lysell Prospect? Prospect? Prospect? Prospect? Studnika? Demko Silovs or Koskevuo *Need to do list: Trade OEL retain $3.26mx4 + sweetener savings $4x4 Trade Myers at '24 TDL or let him walk (future) savings $6m Trade Garland retain $1.5mx3 savings $3.45x3 + Fabro (-$2.4)RFA LTIR or buyout for Poolman and Pears. List of assets that can be included in a trade for Hughes partner: (if they don't sign Livingstone) Karlsson, Lekker, McDonough, Rathbone, various '23'+'24 draft picks. Anyone else? Only trade assets for a bonifide young RD that has what it takes to support Quinn's game. Just having fun with the numbers; I can't see all these moves happening (probably none). Imagine that top 9 though. Takes my breath away. Edited January 29 by higgyfan
DownUndaCanuck
Wouldn't mind Frederic, Mast and Raty coming back but we need much better D men coming back than Mast who is fairly average, especially if we're trading our top 2 pieces. If we're going for a player you'd like to see Carlo/Pulock in those deals (and Schenn going back to compensate), otherwise a young defensive prospect from another team (say Edvinsson/Wallinder from Detroit for example). Even with the cap dump, I don't think Brock's return would be a young RD that can compliment Hugh's defensive style. Being a C makes Raty a big plus as a return; especially if Bo is to be traded. 17 hours ago, DownUndaCanuck said: If we're going for a player you'd like to see Carlo/Pulock in those deals (and Schenn going back to compensate), otherwise a young defensive prospect from another team (say Edvinsson/Wallinder from Detroit for example). Carlo/Pulock would be ok for the short term, but the preference is a young RD that can be effective on the 1st pairing. Perhaps Carlo/Lysell could be had for Bo + Schenn and then Lysell added to a trade for Schneider. As I mentioned, the Canucks have a host of decent assets that could be applied to such a trade (not including the Raty pickup from Boeser's trade). I don't know what Schneider's trade value, but I'm pretty sure that Lysell + asset? would be acceptable to the Rangers.

I think Carlo's young enough, 26 I believe which gives us a solid 5-7 years of top-4 minutes. I think it's almost impossible to snag any of the strong RDs who are under say 23 yo (Schneider, Jiricek, Nemec etc.). I doubt NYR will move Schneider if they didn't last year for Miller, even though they've got Fox and Trouba on the right side, Schneider seems to be fairly prized by them. I'd be happy with someone like Carlo coming back even if he is a bit older. I really wanted to just do Bo + Schenn for Carlo + Zacha and a pick. Dare I say, we trade away a 60 goal scorer and our team gets better on the whole with that trade, but after they re-signed Zacha I'm not sure that's possible anymore. Bo + Schenn for Carlo + Frederic + 1st would be nice though. I have no time for Lysell, quite frankly the last thing this team needs is another small Swedish RW. Swedish and size aside, we surely cannot acquire anymore wingers in the next 12 months.

Being a 19oa pick, I don't know that Schneider is in the same class as Jiricek, Nemec etc. The Canucks don't need Zacka (he playes LW), but I'm all in on adding Frederick and a 1st. The smallish RW Swedes are trading chips added to future trades (along with some of the other prospects and draft picks). The Canucks really need to work hard on convincing Livingston to sign.
