Have to agree with this report.

Bunch of arrogant know it alls come in from the East and first thing start issuing opinions about who should be coach, meanwhile going behind existing coach's back.

Then they fail to provide the changes to the roster the coach needed to improve performance... in the form of defensive upgrades.

Then they blame him for failures and negotiate the signing of a new coach in plain sight... while the existing coach is still on the bench.

Completely toxic...  very few decent coaches in the NHL would want to come into this environment.

This is a media generated controversy.

Boudreau has been in Tocchets situation himself so it’s just hypocracy to blow this out of proportions.

There have been many coaches replaced mid-season, Lou Lam once fired Julien right before the playoffs were going to begin. Its the nature of the business, and I take absolutely no issue with it. That wasn't my point however, it was the way this situation was handled and it was completely unprecedented. Most GMs hold their cards to their chest, they don't critique the team's structure in October. Bruce thought he was a goner right then, and it gives the players on the team even less reason to buy into the system knowing that the locker-room is being led by a lame duck head coach. Considering the state of our D, this management did nothing to address our biggest weakness and spent a lot of the available cap on forwards. Then there was the leaking of the news that we had hired Tocchet and Rutherford doing that ill-advised press conference pretty much admitting that he was searching for a head coach while Boudreau was still in the building. Multiple people associated with the league have come out and said that the way the Canucks handled the situation was poor, not all of whom work in the media.
