Yeah I get it.,..they don't want to overpay on a career year I don't blame them. It's not like they didn't give him an offer, they did he just rejected it.

He could have been a Canucks for life but the reality id Bo chose not to be.

This is exactly it. He could've signed but declined. He thinks he's worth more, and that's his right. Some ask why we paid Miller for a career year and not Bo, but we didn't with Miller; he has been a PPG player for his entire tenure with us, and he drives every line that he's on. Even in his down year this year, he's still worth his salary. Bo's production is likely going to drop considerably on the Islanders and back down to his typical 60pt pace.

True, but if we trade Brock for anything and have Beau in his place, we just saved a bunch of cap and added some quickness with a guy who can also PK. This is a big upgrade over Brock.

Well, now he's gotta re-sign Bo long term for big money based on half a years production on an old and aging team who's compete window is closing fast. It's not the perfect situation for him by any means.

so, we traded Bo for Beau + picked up an R2 D2 + a first that we could pair with our first to get a higher first.

or maybe use the islander 1st to snatch that Russian Michkev and he'll join the team in 3 years like another Kuzmenko

If he signs for $8M or more with NYI, we can abandon the narrative that he wants to win a cup. As has been mentioned, they are aging out, stellar goaltending is keeping them on the playoff bubble, and we just acquired their best prospect.

Fun fact:

For those who wanted a right handed centre, Aatu Raty takes draws right handed. Yes, he switches his stick around when he takes a faceoff. Never seen that before. Quite cool actually…

Worth it just for this

I'd agree with that sentiment on Beauvillier. It really could go either way but the style of player he is should be of value to what our team needs. We do need to have 2 more corresponding moves considering we've added his cap and the defense hasn't been addressed. Should be an interesting next month, at least I hope it will be.

By no means do they see Beauvillier as a solution or centerpiece. He fits the mold of a young, highly drafted player that needs a change of scenery. He only has 1 year left on his deal too. They can either re-sign at a number they see fit next year or trade at next deadline. It's a low risk acquisition, I like personally because he's only 25 and he's a better player than his recent point totals suggest. People get really hung up on point totals only, I get it at $4m you'd like to see more but he does alot of things right.

In 2016 The Capitals traded down from 26th to 28th overall, adding the 87th overall pick from the Blues.

In 2017 The Blackhawks traded down from 26th to 29th overall, gaining the 70th overall pick from the Stars

A 3rd is the cost of moving up a few spots at the end of the draft. Definitely not going from the end to the middle

How draftees pan out - it's a much flatter curve than high 1st to mid-1st.  Tampa looking at draft outcome.

I think Schenn will get a2nd

Hits leader

Decent plus minus on a terrible defense

RHD

Physical

Vet with cup experience

That's a 2nd in my books

Yeah, could see that.  Could even see a 1st from a contender that sees his value.

I just put "a 3rd" because I think that's the floor in terms of his value.

Same with Brock.  I think a 2nd is actually very realistic for him.

id take it one step further... we already won the trade because we were never re-signing him anyways and found someone desperate to give us the max value of BO

Facts. The NYI aren't contenders nor will they be in the coming years.

Bo wanted money, and that's his right.

The end.

He has actually looked good doing it too.  Generally over 50% on the dot.

that is nothing close to resembling the truth.... Beauvillier can play hockey with the best of them.... brock can play the PP with the best of them

Not even close.  He can skate, isnt soft and is excellent on the forecheck.

So he is the anti Brock?

Does he have better hair?  Allvin thinks he’s Italian. Calls him Antonio. It was the only way Aquilini would approve the trade really.
