I'm a little confused I see this kind of thing posted once in awhile. Why do people think the Isles are going be bottom 5 next year?

It's not that I do, it's just that it'd be best case scenario for the pick

I don't think it's likely though, if anything they'll make the playoffs this season or finish just outside the playoff bar

I'm already heavy into the scoreboard watching because of this conditional pick lol. I think I'd prefer a 13-16 pick vs a gamble next year. Dvorsky and sandin pellikka. Honestly tons of very interesting options. Imagine adding  3rd via a demko trade... I'm sticking with JBD and a 1st from OTT. Pay us more and we should take back zaitsev. Tank again next year.. walaaa

It also gets them into the system sooner for everyone always bitching about how long it takes prospects to develop.

Except 1. Raty is 20 years old. Let's see what he has done when he is Bo's age. 2. Anthony could just need a change of scenery. 3. For the third point, let's look at the 3 picks in the 8 years since Bo was picked in spots 13 through 16.

2013: Josh Morrisey, Nikita Zadorov

2014: Dylan Larkin

2015: Jake Debrusk, Mat Barzal

2016: Charlie MacAvoy, Jacob Chychrun

2017: Nick Suzkuki, Cal Foote

There are great picks in those lottery picks before the top 12.

This trade COULD be an easy win for Vancouver.

Great post. Stick around

I fully get that Beauvillier was a throw in / cap move for NYI, but I look forward to cheering for him as an underdog to turn it around. Even if the fresh start doesn’t motivate him, next season he’ll be working for his next contract.

Exactly. And we could even flip him at next years TDL if needed. He’s only got one year left after this season.

It’s not a bad throw in. A middle 6 guy who will get a bigger opportunity once Boeser, Garland get moved.

A 1st, prospect and middle 6 player is what a lot of people were expecting in Horvat trade talk thread. We got it, with the chance to have a 13-16 1st round pick, I was expecting 25-30.

Yep. As has been suggested, give him great line mates and boost his vale. He has speed and skill.

Yup.  With his playoff resume he’s likely a second round pick as a TDL rental.  But he could turn into another Alex Burrows kind of player too.  AB is a no lose acquisition considering where we are in our winning cycle.

Yep, I like the return and he timing. We could have gotten an older player back (eg. Bailey) without reclamation potential

They are only 5 points up on Detroit, who are the 10th worst team in the league. They also have 3 more games played than Detroit. They have no cap to make any moves this summer to really improve their team. All their best forwards except Bo and Barzal are over 30. They should have a very good defense for many years as they are still under 30, and Sorokin looks really good. If they suck enough this year that they are drafting top 12. There's a pretty low chance that Bo will stay. Whether that's wishful thinking or not, is anyone's guess.

But if he turns into a rental and that pick is pushed to next season. There's no reason to believe this team can make the playoffs next year. They may stay middle of the pack. Like I said their defense and their goalie are really, really good. But it's also possible they regress with their forward group getting further into their 30s and no real cap space to make a team altering move. Even if they got Bedard I doubt he comes in and makes em playoff caliber.

It's all speculation. I doubt they suck enough to draft top 12 though. We're probably gonna get a mid to late teens pick.

Is there a deadline as to when we know if they will waive the pick or not?

Besides Abby, these are the only things I look forward to for the remainder of the szn.

And your prediction is the worst case scenario for us, which is still actually really good.  But there is a very possible potential that we will get their pick next year and it will be top five.  And we get Raty!  Allvin made a fabulous trade for us.

For a Canuck hater like Drance to like this return for Bo, it must be pretty damn good.

No because if Drance likes it its crap so he can b**** and complain like the toxic cancer he is. Gives him so much more ammunition to spew his negativity.
