[Trade] Canucks trade Bo Horvat to Islanders for Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty, 2023 1st-round draft pick

Maybe he will be like Linden. Play for 3-5 years, and come back to Vancouver?

If he keeps his house here, that could certainly be the case. This management group has only 1 and 1/2 years left on their contracts too.  New group comes in and I could see Bo, like Trevor, coming back.

For argument's sake to get a few people riled up, which is the better team:

Miller + Raty + Beauvillier + 1st

Or

Horvat + Chytil + Lundqvist + 1st

A bit if a problem there as Chytil already is a 2C with Horvats ppg.

Petey, Horvat and Chytil would have been really great going forward.

But I don’t believe this was on the table.

Why should Rangers let Chytil go with his projection?
It makes no sense.

Just saw this. I try to not be too soft (it's hockey after all) and take it all in stride, but......

I've always hated this part. Homer Deb loves her team and despite what's right or wrong in the moment, it stings.

"Hey Cap"! -Petey

"No, that's you now" - Bo

Makes sense the Raggedy Andys’ we’re offering us Krappo and Krapsoft.

Just that it was a highly rumoured deal for Miller last year and we turned it down. Imagine if we took it. Chytil wasn't great last year and there were rumblings...

3 great, relatively young centers down the middle, a decent future top 4 RD and a 1st. They spent their 1st last year in the Winnipeg trade so may have been a first this year which would be in the 22OA region. Imagine we draft a defenceman like Reinbacher with that pick and we have a great core of centers and 3 top young defencemen.

The Horvat line.  Just because our D sucks and we really need to improve that area.

No way Horvat comes back to VAN. He made his decision and then so did management. Maybe Bo felt special, because he was in VAN the longest and the captain. Horvat might regret how he played this, but he gambled and these are the results.

Moving on, let's get this sham of an all-star game over with so we can start watching Canucks hockey again.

The RD is maybe a bit small.

The Rangers has played Chytil since he was 18. They knew exactly what they got so they wouldn’t trade one of their best future players for an ageing Miller.

Not a chance.

So it all lies on Lundqvist? If we're talking defense, I'd rather the Miller line and spend the extra cap once we flip Beau for a RHD actually worth a damn. Lundqvist, young and tons of offensive potential, does nothing for us.

Miller got scored on less than Bo in ES. Take that in.

I don’t think you could flip Beau and get a top 4 RHD.  That’s wishful thinking.  He’s a career 30-40pt player making $4M.

I agree with your first sentence. that is the look of a shell-shocked young man who really didn't expect to overplay his hand the way he did. a rude wakeup call and a rough life lesson, but honestly, it will be good for Bo to go and have to earn it in a new organization where he wasn't anointed king the day he was drafted.

as for bringing him back? nope. the ship has sailed. the organization has already moved on, so he and canucks fans are going to have to do the same.

Maybe he was expecting the Canucks to cave in and pay the big money after his agent met with Allvin after that Hawks game.

I have no idea how much a player is involved in these type of talks, but this is like the third interview I’ve seen from him and his face looks full of regret and sadness. I don’t know, could be looking too deep into it.

Whatever looking forward to Pettersson, Smith and Ratty running 1C, 2C and 3C for the next 5-10 years hopefully.

The latter is better today.

1. Horvat > Miller. I prefer to have a goal scoring faceoff machine of a 2C rather than a pouty scoring winger who doesn't use his size.

2. Chytil > Raty (for now).

3. Lunkvist < Beauvillier. I think Beauvillier will serve an important role on this team but Lunkvist is an RD and replaces one of the two aging defenders on the right side.

4. NYR 1st < NYI 1st.

Raty projects to be about as good a player as Chytil. He will be a 2C/3C. Hopefully he becomes a better player.

NYI 1st is likely to get us a better player than NYR 1st.

I'd trade Miller for Chytil, Lundkvist, 1st if that was ever on the table.

My guess is nobody put in a decent enough offer for Miller.

That’s why I was OK with a Chytil package (if offered).  He’s 2-3C.  Another position Canucks are in need of.

I meant flip Beau for whatever, and use the 4.1 mil to acquire a defenseman that's better than Lundqvist.

Ok.  Gotcha.  So who’s available next year and how much will it cost to bring them here?

Would not want a repeat of Myers $6M x 6yrs again.

It will be eerily similar to Linden. Another Swede (Pettersson) will be the captain by then.

I know nothing about value since the FA market is always.... interesting?

Orlov

Severson

Graves

Gavrikov

Soucy

Gudas

Mayfield

Clifton
Stecher

All of these players would improve our defense more than Lundqvist, while staying at a price range around Beau's cap hit of 4.1. Some of them will probably go up to 6 mil though... Hard pass on that

I promise you that were Chytil, Lundqvist and a 1st on the table for Miller they would have taken it at once.

The absolute only thing that could stop that is if the owner said no.
