[Trade] Canucks trade Bo Horvat to Islanders for Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty, 2023 1st-round draft pick

Quick poll on his extension…

a) it’s already done, to be announced on Monday

b) history is repeating itself and Pat Morris is battling Lou Lam for $

c) Bo will hire a new agent

d) Bo has zero interest in signing with NYI, and heads to UFA

e) I don’t care, I’ve moved on

I’m thinking d. He might try them on for size, but I can’t see them making the best offer

Id say e. But I need to add that I'm a huge Bo fan as a player and person. That said, I lose all respect for him if he signs with the Isles long term. The team has little to no chance of winning a cup for a long while and it would say a lot about his desire to win a championship to sign up there for 7 or 8 years.

Dance was right about the Horvat trade making us worse for the next 2-3 years, in a vacuum. Also agree that trading Demko will signal a longer process, and whatever trades we make now will be very telling as to JRPA’s plans.

Would love for management to give an updated target timeline for being competitive. Call it 25/26, so we can make moves accordingly, and the fan base can set their expectations.

Even the biggest simpleton on CDC coulda told you this. Lol. We traded him for 2 futures and a 3rd line winger.

I can relate

Based on the content of this thread, I’m not sure I can agree with you…

Steve Dangle is far from a joke, he’s pretty blunt and honest and even though he’s a Leafs fan he openly criticizes them when warranted he is pretty unbiased overall.

He has some good hockey knowledge for sure, I just think he’s an annoying leafs homer and a mouthpiece.

He's fun to watch when the Leafs are failing, which over the last few years, has been often.

Bo's never been a defensive C

We pidgeonholed him in that role because we had nobody better

But if ny thought they were getting a selke caliber 1C.. man.. they are in for a disappointment

My comment was simply that I wouldn’t be surprised if he showed he could excel as a two way centre in the mold of Bergeron/ROR on a defensive minded team. He’s a competitive guy and a good athlete.

Same thing, calling Bo the "type" of player that can be so good defensively he could win or be nominated for the Selke. No matter what noun you use, putting them in the same sentence is a comparison of abilities.

They aren't even on the same planet is that aspect, therefore I don't see him being that "TYPE" of player.

Wow, you know what I’m saying better than I do. That’s stinking impressive! What thought I was saying was that on a defensive structured team Bo might embrace the type of role a guy like Bergeron or ROR does for their respective teams… a two way centre who excels at both end of the ice. I obviously made a huge mistake in thinking the word ‘type’ could extend beyond a direct and absolute comparison in skill rather than a stylistic comparison in play.

nonetheless, I apologize and bow down to your superior mental acuity.

Umm, no he isn't. I don't know where people get this two-way C idea, but his defensive metrics are (and always have been) average at best. He is a terrible match up C, besides being good on the dot he doesn't have any of the skills ROR or Bergeron possess.

Horvats production is bound to drop off a cliff with the Isle. 1/3 of his points have come on the PP, and he's going to a team with a league worst powerplay @ 15%. NYI are a way more structured defensive focused team, 4th best PK, and they score over half a goal less per game than Vancouver.

I agree his production will drop. I do think he may surprise people in Vancouver with his ability to play a matchup two way centre game, but we will see for sure.

he doesn't have much incentive to not at least test free agency, but I could also see him feeling rattled and gun-shy after the trade and taking a fair offer if nyi extends him one.

I cannot stand cheech, I’m sorry if it’s an unpopular opinion. Nice guy. But my god man, enough with the food stories and I don’t find him too insightful.

Him right behind the bruins announcer for biggest homer
