Which is why every fan should be rooting against the Isles now.

That pick sliding into 2024 is the best thing that could happen. The Isles are a Sorokin injury away from being a bottom 5 team.

A move like that is how the Avs got Byram.

That'd be best case scneario

I could see them making it this season though

A tough division and a team that just can’t score.

A lot of pressure on Bo to fix their scoring.

I don’t. Sabres, Pens, Caps and and Panthers (who recently picked it up) are better than them.

Still risky though, Isles could go on a run next year and it blows up in Vans face........not necessarily likely, but possible

Incredibly underwhelming return. If this deal was made at the deadline I could swallow it as there might not have been a better offer, but I have to wonder what the incentive was to make this deal now and not wait to drive the price up.

He doesn't have to fix it, he just has to help, they aren't far from the playoff bar

He'll help their possession game for one

Bonino, Sbisa and a first is better?

Again context.

Asset 1.  Traded to divisional rival with a full NTC meaning he had handcuffed the organization got an unprotected 1st and 3rd as well as a young LHD and a .5 ppg centre both under the age of 24.

Asset 2.  No NTC top 10 in goals etc got a small LW an unknown in a prospect and a protected 1st with retention.  His total cap hit against the Isles if my math is right is at or around $1.14 million for the year.

Bode Wilde rhd former 2nd rounder, 23

Samuel Bolduc lhd former 2nd rounder, 22

Wilde is a train wreck right and bolduc isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

Lot of runway left, they're still right there and injuries happen

All it'd take is a string of wins and some luck regarding teams ahead of them and they'd be right back in it

By far the best you're gonna get. Either a 13-17ish pick this year or perhaps an even better one next year.

vs. a 20-30 pick you would've gotten from most of the other teams interested.

Then you decline and wait.  There's 5 weeks to the tdl, a lot can change in that time.  No one will convince me this is the best they could do.

I have no problem with it being protected this year, if it slips to 2024, it becomes unprotected and the Islanders just sacrificed depth for the now. There's a good chance if they falter, we could get better position next season. Look what happened to Ottawa a few years ago.

And if the Isles get into the playoffs next year, go on a run and that pick turns into mid 20's?  I could see top 5 protected, but top 12?

Yeah, hoping for a good result with that. Either just outside 12, or high next year. Something to look forward to I guess.

& should we manage to sign Livingstone, we might be golden!

We seriously need to ditch wingers though. Hard sell to Aidan McDonough that we have opportunity for him lol.

Flip AB next!

Yup, even if it the pick ends up being next season there's no guarantee it'd be a high pick
