Kenny Powers
With NJ reportedly interested in Boeser, and (all teams) reportedly seeking retention, this trade aims to speed up our retool around Petey and Hughes, while providing cap space after this year to address our defence. To NJ: Boeser ($1.55M retained), Lekkerimaki To Van: Tatar (2023 UFA, $4.5M), Holtz (2025 RFA, ELC), 2024 2nd Canucks trade Boeser and a RW prospect that’s 2-3 years away for a 21 y/o RW who’s near ready now, whose ELC offsets the salary retention for Brock for the next two years. Also recoup a 2nd for retaining salary and taking Tatar. Devils upgrade their wing with Boeser at a reasonable $5M per year, and replace Holtz with a comparable prospect that’s 2-3 years away, staggering ELCs with Zetterlund at RW. Tatar goes to even the cap, leaving them with over $2M space to make further moves for their playoff run. We offload our most expensive, underperforming winger, and effectively replace him on our roster for $2.5M (ELC + retention). What do you think? 2
Elias Pettersson
I'd do that deal. Get rid of $5 million of Boeser's contract and I like Holtz better than Lekkerimaki... 1
Angry Goose
Holtz is a complimentary player like Boeser. Canucks need play drivers. Id target Mercer in any deal w NJD

Nuxfanabroad
Between Holtz & Lekki..I'd prob go with whoever has more speed. But I like this proposal from a creative aspect.
DownUndaCanuck
I doubt they give up on a 7th overall pick so soon. Plus, if we're trading with NJD, we've got to be thinking defence, they've got such a log jam over there they can afford to let two quality top-4 guys walk in free agency and not lose a beat which is insane. Seigenthaler, Severson, Hamilton, Graves kind of make up their top-4 but they've got Nemec and Hughes likely to play next year (if not in the AHL). Severson is still their leading minute man, even if they say they won't re-sign him, and Hamilton is one of the best defenders in the league right now. That leaves a massive BC boy like Bahl sitting and wondering, 22, 6'6, former 2nd round pick, isn't getting a look-in at all I say we go for him. Lekkerimaki for Bahl? I'd do that. Winger for defender who fits our age bracket with Hughes and Petey. It's more of a future trade though. 1
DrJockitch
Swede, check. Winger, check Small, well, borderline at 6 ft. ‘He almost checks all the boxes. If we can move Brock without giving up young assets I would do it. Can’t say for sure about the prospects but this looks like an ug on Lekkerimaki who has not had a great development year. While I think being a couple years away for Lekk is a good thing, I think management is too impatient and I am guessing that NYI pick isn’t made by us, it will be flipped for an older struggling prospect.

If that islander first is flipped for a D man (who is 22-25) then that’s our owner pushing management to speed up the process.

It is the wrong thing to do so seems like the course we will take.
Fanuck
We need RHD. Just retain 1.5-2 on BB and get back RHD Mukhamadullin. He could probably play full time as soon as next season and he's on ELC which is exactly what we need cap-wise. Plus, did I mention he's RHD! After reading their prospect scouting reports, I didn’t see anyone that looked like a stylistic match for Hughes (eg. shutdown, physical RHD)

Hand Allvin a napkin so he can wipe off the drool and then call them! In this case though, I do hope they go for Mukhammadullin like someone else suggested.
