Horvat made a statement that “[he] wants out of here”? And Botchford reported it?  That would have been a couple years ago, right? Why did Bo buy a house here after that?

C'mom you know damn well all Horvat said was that he was tired of all the losing and wanted to play in the playoffs, it was reported at the same time that Miller said he wanted out he had enough.

But a house in Vancouver? Why not it would have been a great investment for the future. Many players come to Vancouver for retirement and what year did Horvat buy? Wasn't it 2018/19 after he signed his last contract? You know as well as I do that renting is just buying a house for someone else.

What difference now? Horvat is gone and the team plays the same, still needs 5 goals to get close to success.

Besides this is a Pettersson thread and there is no doubt his thoughts when he signed his last contract is there. Although they are marketing that he didn't have a choice because of the cap, which is a pile of dung! They easily could have given him a longer term if he wanted.

While that could change time will tell how fast the next contract is signed. He doesn't appear to be a shallow thinker.

The proof now is that they, Canucks AND Miller's agent made statements contrary to that information, why would they make those statements and start a firestorm if not in existence? Why would they deny something that wasn't out there? They state a fake account. But can anyone find it amongst the astro surfing of that information now? There should be pages and pages of that comment real or fake because it was hot enough to cause them to react.

In the end, if somebody wants out of the city/team they will leave or demand a trade out.  Not only did he not ask for a trade out, he signed for 7 years longer.  If that doesn't prove that those statements were inaccurate of him wanting out, I don't know what else to say.

It wasn't a "fake Miller account" it was simply sports talk radio speculation combined with social media nonsense....

There were various suggestions on sports talk radio and among media types on Twitter that certain Vancouver Canucks might ask for trades after it became clear that the team wasn’t going to make any major changes in its front office. There was also a Tweet with a fake Miller quote about the Canucks struggles that gained some traction as well.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman talked about it during a Hockey Night in Canada segment on Saturday: “I reached out to the source today and here’s J.T. Miller’s exact comment: ‘No, he does not want to be traded. He does not want to leave. He wants to be a Vancouver Canuck. He has no intentions of leaving. We have a good team here and he wants to be a part of it.”

Brian Bartlett, who’s Miller agent, reiterated those thoughts in a text message on Monday morning:

“J.T. has loved Vancouver and we’ve never discussed him wanting out. It seems like someone just made up a meme with a totally fake quote then J.T. was able to quickly set the record straight. No fire at all for fake smoke!” — Brian Bartlett, J.T. Miller's agent

JR has a history with Tocchet - he knows his style well

Tocchet, you could take Tortorella's comments and they sound the same.

Lots of comments about negativity. What is the positive? Well now it is that the team is getting closer than I ever thought to Bedard.

IMO any player that is happy playing for this team has to be moved. Otherwise they are nothing more than a wrestling show. Get paid to perform and have a three month holiday the same.

Pettersson will now be pressured if they keep putting him in front of a camera. They would be making a big mistake to make him the Captain before his next contract is signed.

This is absolute drama that our fanbase dreams up and it really should stop. It does a disservice to our team and our fans. It's hockey for crying out loud...not super sensitive love stories.

Miller's "outbursts" have absolutely nothing to do with Petey or coming in second to him. He hates to lose, period. And yes, sometimes he has lapses where he's contributed to those losses with careless plays...and he knows it. Some of those outbursts are more self directed than at anyone else.

It's time for us to probably cheer for our "team" not just individuals. You ask Miller to do more of that and maybe we should too.

Petey is way above....he's way above everyone on the team. And I'm quite sure they're all grateful to have him as a teammate. But they're all on the same bench and share the wins and the losses. This divide that everyone looks for? Not sure we can't just watch the games without the controversy...we get enough of that from outside our team/fans. Don't buy in to it.

Miller has stopped Petey from getting points? That's a new one. When Petey was struggling and Miller was the one carrying the team at times did you say the same? I think you have a bit of a twisted view in all of this. Miller continued to put up points when the team was awful and that likely inspired Petey and motivated him more than discouraged him. At least someone was contributing and  helping him.

A disconnect in the room can be disaster. As far as how players think, they are a specific group of personality types. Pacifists don't usually have a lot of success unless a stupendous talent, attitude has so much to do with winning. The term "Nice guys finish last" is real. Burke even stated that teams look for those players on the edge, he wasn't referring to ballerinas, closer to criminals.

I wish I'd read Mike's comment above mine first...yep. Nailed it.

They asked Petey a direct question and he answered "yes". Why is it we don't just accept this? His own words...if he isn't happy we'll know it because he'll move on. While he's here why don't we just enjoy it?  And not continually make stories behind the scenes.

Name 10 players in the league that have state outright they want out or off a team. But then name player that say they hated the trade off a losing team. Even Horvat said he wanted to stay, he thought he would  be here for his career BUT he is happy now playing for the Islanders.

Most players say they are happy with their new teams.

Players just don't say they are pi**ed off very often, they just show it on the ice one way or another.

So negativity, player dissension, losing all make for a happy positive narrative?

Even Pettersson has stated he want to play on a winning team, in the playoffs and at the time did not commit to a long future here, it was his choice of course now the reason for the short term is the cap which is untrue. They had the cap space when they signed them, Ferland and Sutter were going on LTIR opening up enough cap space and Benning never worried about the future, "we don't know what will happen tomorrow" and they would have had the space in the future. Benning prioritized Sutter, Garland and other players ahead of Pettersson and Hughes.

The only way we, the fan base , will know his true feelings is next year when he signs a longer term deal.  No player will state his true feelings to the media.. if he signs here he likes it, if he doesnt he wants out.. hansen  said the same thing on radio yesterday
