Let's call a spade a spade. This d is and has been bad for a long time. It's time to address it.

Schenn, yes all the way, Schenn has kind of stepped into Tanev's role, senior leader in the room, been there, done that.

Oddly Tryamkin could be back and the team could use him in various ways, he is still in his prime and for large dmen that haven't had injuries he could last a long time, what a wing span. But don't insult him with an entry level contract but don't give him a long term one either unless it is fairly cheap, 3.5 for two years to see.

Rathbone has been burned out here, Woo just never took that step.

There are two teams I have looked at and centered on for dmen, LA and NJD they have multiple young dmen and there is Columbus that keeps my interest.

The Tryamkin ship has sailed. He doesn't want to be here.

Not sure if you’ve heard.. but some big tall Russian dman is looking for a job, and there’s about 14,000 people on this site that believe he’s the second coming of Christ..

No just about three things the team needs, size, PK specialist and protection for the skill guys. Oh and he can skate too.

Reminds me of the joke, three guys in heaven watchin a guy skate all over the ice scoring goals by the bushel basket, one guy asks the other guy who is that, he answers "oh that's god, he thinks he is Bobby Orr":emot-parrot::goat::lol:

This meme was created on Reddit almost two years ago. Aside from Bear it’s shockingly gotten worse which is hard to do when you are trying to improve the teams defense. I used to laugh at this meme, now it’s just sad that we leave this mess on the blue-line basically the same after TWO YEARS! We aren’t talking about cutting/nibbling around the edges here. We are talking about getting real talented D men playing in our top 4.

Hearing Allvin say “building brick by brick” when all I’m imagining is he’s building our blue-line with sticks and straw and the other NHL GM piggies are using actual bricks to build their NHL club house with. While we keep refusing to draft RSD. Go figure.

Yea Bricks = draft picks. Start stockpiling them Allvin and ignore the grumbling owner wanting that  0.5% chance playoffs.

Is there a quote? A statement? From what a Russian friend told me he still likes Vancouver and they have other Russians on the team.

But would YOU want him here? If not why?

If Gudbranson is still in the league and getting 4 million, than there's a place for Tryamkin. We also have Sergey Gonchar here

The problem is, Tryamkin is just trying to pump is value to get a better KHL contract

I thought he was great while he was here. I didn't understand the deployment while he was here but it's just from what was reported that he didn't like it here.

Really, management didn't. I am talking about when Rutherford spoke to the media and said there needed to be big changes in his last press conference. Just said players around the core need to be fixed. Yes in the past they said they have tried but they never said anything about the d and it should be at the top of the list. I guess I am just getting impatient with how slowly it's being changed.

Well he's not going to publicly slag his defence. That's only a couple guys once you take away ones who are doing their job. You don't put your players on blast like that.

He knows it's defense, we know it's defense, coach knows it's defence, he does t need to say it to the media.

Not so much he didn't like it here, the most damning was he was never told why he would be sat after having good games. Willie was an old "Don Cherry" believer that jobs were being taken and that Willie preferred AHL players.

Tryamkin was played left side, right side on the very good PK of the day. He honored the contract GIVEN  him that stated he didn't have to go to Utica but then the team leaked that he refused, then Wile tried to embarrass him by over loading him with ice time playing against McDavid, but that didn't work. Essentially the coaching staff didn't explain things or talk to him.

If he didn't like it here why would he come back twice and wait for a total of over 6 months waiting for Benning to talk with his agent? Why keep saying he liked Vancouver?

It was a perfect example of fan manipulation leading them down the garden path. Benning was never going let him play in the NHL as long as he was around, evidence of that is easy, he could have traded his rights to Boston for a bag of pucks. Once Groot comes back into the  league it will be another Benning failure exposed.

Funny how fans think of him, he was a rookie that never played on small ice, didn't speak the language and the team quickly jettisoned the only player he understood.

After Tanev and Edler he was easily the next best dman as a rookie. But Willie hated Ruskies. Just check any of the teams he coached. Even in the farm system in Benning time Euros asked to leave or be traded.

There isn't really any fixing to be done. We basically need to wait for ;

A ) Cap to rise

B ) Bad contracts to expire

C ) Prospects to develop

The only other way to address the issue is to pay other teams to take bad contracts, which you can't afford to do when you're a bottom tier team.

The only correct approach is patient one, which we all know isn't an option for Francesco "Tiny Hands" Aqualini

How about Filip Hronek?

Okay. You do realize what they gave up and what our farm system looks like? We basically have an empty system with no impact players coming up. The longevity of this franchise is never considered. So we have nothing to replace players with. It's a bad way to run a team. Notice how everyone who is happy are all the new people brought in. They haven't experienced the last 8 years. They have no idea.

Players want to win, management wants to win, owners want to win

What a bunch of dummies  :bigblush: jk

Hronek is 25, not like they traded the farm for a 30-year old veteran making too much. Hughes is happy, takes some of the load off him. This is about next season. My guess is Reinbacher or Simashev will not turn out better than Hronek.

This is a young team, exciting times ahead

Filip Hornek isn't a negligible add.

That being said, with how this Franchise has spent the last decade fumbling in the dark to just make the bare minimum wildcard spot, I say we raise a banner to Francesco Aquilini when we do make the wildcard spot. After we get swept :bigblush:
