kacholu
I have never been a fan from day 1. However, does anyone know any rumours of him being hired somewhere else? I would absolutely love to see the next train wreck he creates 1 1

6of1_halfdozenofother
He's still being paid by the Canucks, right? So why wouldn't he enjoy his personal pumping and dumping from the comfort of his own home while receiving paycheques from his former employer? Does anyone know exactly how much he was paid while working here as GM (and after)? I see he banked just over a million as a player over his career. But there's no info on his salary as an executive. How many millions he's "earned' in his stint in Vancouver? I looked up that the average GM salary is $272,346 I guess, good for him. Hard to imagine how big Jim, after missing the playoffs for four years, being able to re-sign in 2019 for another 3 years. What kind of owner would do that? More and more its showing that ownership is the problem. We can harp about Benning, but any hockey team owner, minor league, major league....should have at least some base line knowledge of what is involved in putting a good team together. Even just basic common sense. How do you sign off on the OEL deal? How do you sign off on re-signing Virtanen? Giving up on Forsling, McCann right off the bat, while coddling Virtanen and Joulevi for years. Okay.....don't get me started. My point is that its understandable that an owner doesn't know enough to actually run an NHL team, and has to hire a GM and staff, but they should have some kind of basic common sense. Even just because they are Canadian and grew up watching hockey. Benning is history. We don't need new threads to crap on him. Its the Aquilinis that are the constant who I'm not comfortable with making decisions in the years to come.

I do think he could be a better GM than what he was for us with a better mandate.
