[Speculation] Pearson Put On LTIR, Is There A Trade In The Works?

Recommended Posts

I think looking at the teams in the hunt for playoff spots or just had injuries and don't want to put a player in LTIR.

Cap Hell;

Washington

Vegas

Edmonton

Tampa

Florida

Maple Leafs

Pittsburgh

Next level teams

NJD

Rangers

Dallas

Looks like the Canucks now have $7.6 in cap space. This is great, wasn't long ago Castonguay brought us to $0.00.

Canucks could really swindle some team by taking on a bad contract. I just saw a mock trade idea regarding the OIlers:

to EDM - E. Karlsson (40% retained and a 5th (2024) - bringing his salary to $6.9

to SJ - Foegele, Barrie, Bouchard, 1st (2023) and 2nd (2024)

That seems nuts

Lol.

And why would the Sharks do that?

They eat 40% and all they get of value is a 1st and a 2nd after their rumoured ask was three firsts?

No real reason to place Pearson on LTIR unless there is a trade coming before the TDL and the space is needed.

Sitting with about 4.3 mil in cap space before this adds a substantial amount of usable space. 7.4 mil space now.

Next year Pearson, if healthy loses trade protection.

I sure hope they aren't thinking about trading for one of the available defencemen especially Chychrun, way too expensive unless it is a multi player trade.

If Gavrikov then a bigger trade.

Or the 3rd in a three way trade where the team gets picks.

Id take Chychrun any day of the week

Yes, we're getting Karlsson for a couple bags of pucks and a 7th round pick in 2035....

;)

Yes thats what we need to turn the team around another 32 year old swedish defenseman with a HUGE contract...yup, uh-huh. I don't care what kind of season he's having this year .

But look how well Eriksson and OEL turned out, oh wait… If JB was still here, he’d probably trade our next 3 first round picks for him. Given what management has said about where the team is at, we’re more likely to get an RHD prospect instead. I’m also hoping for an albatross contract trade (that expires this year) for another draft pick, and a Schenn trade for a prospect and 2nd/3rd round pick.

There is no value in putting Pearson on LTIR for the rest of the year unless they are taking on more cap. It is only good until TDL day and then it doesn't matter anymore. IR and LTIR would be the same after.

Something like working with Edmonton for a Karlsson trade but that is long term cap retention, the Canucks would have to get multiple 1rts for multiple years from both teams.

But retention around Kane might make a lot more sense. Or some other high cap hit contract in the last year or a RFA

There's no reason why he shouldn't be on LTIR and it gives Alvin flexibility in advance of need.

Yes there will be more trades. Blunt man is right it’s been a dogshit year but I’m not sure we should be more inpatient. Horvat was traded not that long ago are we deprived of more? Relax, a couple more weeks and we’ll see all the moves that were meant to happen

Wow…so, basically, you are trying to contradict him, but you are just coming back to the same conclusion in the end in a round about way! Some of you need to wake up!

Boeser to Minnie Dumba coming back

And getting ready to take a cap dump with some picks to help a contender free up cap.

We don't need or want Dumba. Give it a break.

I feel like an inpatient. I can’t get out of the asylum.
