Yes… but ROR doesnt have age on his side.. not saying this trade hurts the leafs chances, it sure makes them a serious threat. They are copying COLs model of 3 super deep Cs. But this is a lot to give away for a rental on the downward swing

Barbashev apparently drawing quite a bit of interest too.

 

 

St Louis could be rebuilding/re-tooling and their Ds are apparently also available.  Parayko drawing interest but that would probably be a pre-draft trade.

I hope so but I highly doubt it, especially with recent reports from Dhaliwal that a 2nd and 3rd aren’t even on the table for Schenn right now.

I don’t believe that about Schenn.

 

I think he’s worth a 2nd and Boeser with retention is worth a 2nd. 
 

Just gotta wait till more teams load up and I’m sure a team like Boston or New Jersey will part with their first. No excuse for them not to trade that pick.

It's alot for a 32-year-old rental, but O'Reilly is exactly what the Leafs need.  They don't have his caliber of defensive specialist on the roster.  We are talking elite Selke trophy winning defensive capabilities.  Plus, he is a Stanley cup champion.  He will be taking all the important draws, penalty killing and matching up with the other teams top line.  You can even throw him on the wing to play with Matthews or Tavares.  Just last year he actually had a better year than Horvat, finished 4th in the Selke voting and was a PPG in the playoffs, so he should be rejuvenated to play with his hometown team.

 

The Leafs are basically all in.  If they don't win a cup this year, then Matthews probably walks and they are done...
