We sure another trade isn’t gonna come down the pipe late?

Kerfoot would be the easy player to move to free up cap and is pretty redundant now.

Schenn?  Do they have a decent player/prospect to sweeten that deal with?  Liljegren?

That one heck of a trade.

Though I am now concerned that the Blues have joined the tank battle.

Blues still have too good of a team to completely fall off.

Will be interesting to see if they jettison Parayko now though.

Our tank is looking good now but Chicago is slated to get alot worse (Kane, teows, McCabe, possibly Murphy gone..). Columbus will trade gavrikov.

I hope we keep selling for the tank!

Exactly.

I would say Schenn and Boeser would be some teams plan C’s but let’s say a team like Jersey strikes out on Meier? Or Calgary decides they need to make the playoffs at all costs?

The advantage the Canucks have now is they can take on bad contracts in deals.

Calgary can't really make a trade without sending a player with term back.  They only have 1.3M in cap space with a roster of 19 next off-season.  That's kind of the challenge for other teams too.  It's typically easier to make trades for pending UFAs as they can also involve a 3rd team to retain cap for the rest of the season like here.

Not too much or they might not be able to get in on all the college/junior free agents they could be targeting - signing the players to their ELCs immediately to burn a year is an incentive.  Cap hit goes up the less days remaining to the season.  Rafferty was signed with 4 days left and his cap hit was over 5M.

Meier has a 10M QO so for some teams he might only be a rental.  He's really exactly the player that NJD needs.  Don't see them giving up that easily but Carolina also in on him.  Burns connection.  Hischier connection.  Ehlers connection - not sure how serious Winnipeg though.

Boeser and Myers have to go.  Keeping OEL at this time is good for the tank.

RoR will obviously contribute in TO, when he's not crashing into Tim Hortons that is, but can't help but wonder if Chychrun would've been a better addition to compete with the Eastern powerhouses in a lengthy PO run?   Get rid of Nylander before that ntc kicks.

Doesn't help their defence and goaltending.

Dubas figures forwards are the only answer.

Must be the Benning school of GMing.

Think Schenn would actually be a good bottom pairing for them

Well, TOR can load up on the veteran forwards all they want. They still have to go through Tampa and Boston. Good luck with that. They're trading their 1st and they don't have much for prospects.

TOR doesn't have a pick in Rounds 1-4 this year (2023), or Rounds 2 and 3 next year (2024)

Going to be very entertaining when Matthews leaves at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Wonder if their 2024 pick is in play too.
