Schenn to ?

Boeser to ?

Myers to ?

Hoglander and Rathbone to ?

only person who will probbaly be traded on that list will be like schenn , boeser if we do trade him, will not be worth much and the nucks would have to retain, if the nucks dont retain, we wont beable to trade him, and none want myers

Bruins looking good, real good. Carolina and the Leafs done yet? Leafs have enough ammo to pick up Schenn? Not sure. But I am sure the Leafs will be in tough to find a better right side fit than Schenn.

I find it odd that Washington is trading players. Maybe they’re looking at more of a retool and this gets them some draft capital to get a Boeser?

Washington is aging and it doesn't sound like they were getting anywhere regarding an Orlov extension

This gets them assets, they're going to need picks and prospects going forward as Backstrom, Ovi, Kuznetsov, and Carlson ain't getting any younger

Seems like we should have squeezed a 2nd from NYI as well.  2024 2nd would have been ideal...

All these other firsts being moved are late 20s while the Isles will be early to mid teens. AZ and SJ trade last year is a good example of a way we can look at the horvat deal and see what the extra value in a higher pick is:

To AZ: 11th

To SJ: 27th + 34th+ + 45th

At the very least I think the value is fair in comparison

It does seem strange.  Although Orlov and the Caps were apparently far apart on a new contract and they got a pretty sweet haul so maybe it is simply asset management.  Maybe they think they can replace Orlov's minutes and still be competitive while loading up the picks?

Except one would think they would try to leverage as many years from that aging core as possible.

They are just ditching this year where they are easily within reach of the playoffs and those players will just be a year older next season?

These assets aren’t going to help until after those players are all retired.

It's awesome sitting back and watching teams that waited until closer to the deadline get the hauls wed hoped Horvat was going to bring.

It is even worse that if not signed to an extension, Miller at 50% retained would get a return more than any of these players.

It isn’t a good sign when all your players are worth less the moment you sign them to a contract.

I think the plan is to still try and make the playoffs, we could still see them add something. Maybe they move the 2nd for a D for example and still come out with a 1st and 3rd.

But they're also looking to the future, makes sense not to lose Orlov for nothing if a deal isn't in the cards.

Washington only has one defenceman signed for next year.  They are either going to sign a bunch of UFA's or go into a full rebuild.  Maybe Ovechkin is okay with that.  He got his cup.  I think all he cares about now is breaking Gretzky's record...
