I agree and this is what CHARACTER looks like, down a couple of goals, refs not giving us favorable calls but these character guys don't give up. The coach making them accountable and the players are responding. Like he said, "no passengers".

Why would we not want to build around these guys? Wait until we get some of our injured back and get a couple of good Dmen.

We still have some work to do but I like what I am seeing so far.

I am sure you also liked what you saw at the end of last year too. Look what happened.

We're talking about the Art Ross, being offensively gifted is the only factor that matters in this conversation. As for slightly, come on, go look at the point totals of the point leaders, it's not close.

Even Petey has more points than McDavid, 5 on 5.

Most of his points are on the PP.

Obviously an incredibly talented offensive player, but...

It's not the win. It really isn't. I have cooled a bit. It's the winning at the end of the year and climbing the standings. We just can't seem to have anything at the end of the year worth getting excited about. These wins, although are fun are also costly. I am not trying to whine its just its been years of this and it one of the reasons we don;t really improve very much. Hopefully they draft a Petey or a stud dman with whatever position they end up in at the end but its just concerning.

Same way I feel.

I know it’s an overreaction but these games literally could impact the entire trajectory of this franchise that’s how crucial they are. Like I’ve said before 3 wins in the 2015-16 season was the difference between us drafting Matthews and us drafting Juolevi. Every loss and win do have an impact.

I love that we have some seriously elite players now but I feel like if we can get one more truly elite piece up front this team will start to climb, and climb fast. That’s the power that the top 3 in this draft have.

Pettersson is the only reason to watch this team right now. Imagine if we had won the 2017 draft lottery and picked Nolan Patrick or something.

I don't know, that Kuz guy is pretty OK too. ::D

I mean, I don't think that matters when you're piling them up at the kind of rate McDavid is.

If totals are updated McDavid's up to 105 points in 58 games, if they aren't he's up to 109 points in 59 games.

Absurd.

I know everyone wants Bedard, and I would absolutely love that.. but it's highly unlikely, even if we were dead last.

Hell, I ran the sim 25 times yesterday, and Philadelphia won the lottery 9 times. We won it once, and Anaheim won in twice. Not great odds no matter where you end up, it's a lottery.

Plus, offense is not this teams problem at all. Defense is, so if we end up picking in the 5-10 range we might get a player who helps with that.

I like your positive attitude and you are probably right too. If we can draft a couple of top 4 dmen, we would probably be much better off in the long run.

He's fun to watch, I feel fortunate to have been able to witness both his, Crosby's, and Ovechkin's careers.

It's hard to say how he'll age, superstars tend to age better. But so long as he has that speed it's hard to say, it's crazy how one player has so many x-factor's.

I don’t believe you have as you are a lot younger than me, but I watched Gretzky and Lemieux when I was a kid.  Gretzky is my favourite player of all time. I can tell you with absolute certainty that Gretzky is the most talented player to ever lace them up.  Nobody was even close to him in his prime. We are talking winning the scoring title by like 75 points. McDavid will never come close to that.

When we had our hockey pools, we had to separate Gretzky’s goals and assists.  It wouldn’t have been fair otherwise. I won a hockey pool one year picking only Gretzky’s assists. I believe his assists alone would have won the scoring title at least 3 times. It was batsh*t crazy. Gretzky was a God back then.  Canada was in mourning when he was traded. I had to miss school that day, I was so depressed. I still remember the first game when Gretzky came back and played in Edmonton. It was goosebumps. The crowd in Edmonton were on their feet cheering the guy wearing 99 for Los Angeles. It was surreal. I’ll never forget that moment.

Our next games are against Boston, Dallas, Minnesota and Toronto.

Pretty solid chance that we lose 3 or all 4 of those games.

Blackhawks play the Sharks, Ducks, Coyotes, Stars (who they just beat), Preds, and Sens.

Coyotes play the Preds, Blackhawks, and Stars before getting into a tougher schedule. But Coyotes have been grinding out the wins against good teams.

Sharks play Preds (tonight) Blackhawks, Canadiens, Blues, Capitals.

Im starting to feel better about getting back into the bottom 3/4.

Okay after having a little breather it’s not all so bad.

If we’re gonna win at least it’s Petey and Kuz leading the charge, and looks like we might have a real player in Silovs.

And also looking at the upcoming out of tank schedule all our fellow tankers play either other tanking teams or easier opponents while we play the Bruins and then the Stars.

Hopefully we’re back on tank track by Sunday.

Would be nice if we’re able to trade some more players out.

There ya go. Tanking is a process, not a single event. I’m glad you’ve had a chance to put things into some perspective.

The level of excessive overreaction on these boards is comical. As many posters have pointed out, you can’t lose them all.

Players don’t tank.  Canuck players are not tanking nor did the Blues players tank tonight. A proper tank needs months if not years of careful planning. Can’t turn a tank on or off like a light switch.

If we were going to win at all this year we should've saved it for boston and torona.

On the bright side, silovs looks like our goalie of the near future.   He clearly has the ethic, and talent.

Also, I liked what i saw from Raty.  Good size and will get bigger.  Very responsible.  Hes going to be excellent.
