Barnstorm
1 minute ago, hockeyfan-observer said: I think the tanking may will even get worse with the mid level teams in April like Nashville Blues (not sure about the Canucks though as I can not recall ever tanking) - this is what happens when the NHL brainstorms it and decides to limit the draw to the top 11. By early April, the Blues and any other teams close the cutoff will be "fighting" out the 1tth position for the chance. Bettman and the NHL may have to look at the whole process - make it all non playoff teams but weighted very heavily for the lower teams. What about reversing the odds for the pick positions 1- 7. Everyone gets a chance but there’s encouragement to win.

I don't think many gonna care if a team that was in the running for the playoffs started to go into tank mode in the last 10 games trying to land into the bottom 10. Elias Pettersson
3 minutes ago, Coconuts said: Maybe not the rest of his career, but til his skating begins to go? Yeah, there's absolutely a chance he keeps it going til then. There's nobody else in the league with his combination of skill and speed. I'm not an Oilers fan, they're tied for my least favourite team alongside Toronto, but McDavid's talent is undeniable. I agree. McDavid is the most talented player since Gretzky and Lemieux. But even those guys couldn’t do it forever. There will always be another guy coming. I can see McDavid challenging Gretzky’s record of 11 Art Ross trophies. He has 6 more to go after this year. Will he win another 6 in a row? I have a feeling he won’t, but time will tell…

We'll see. Yeah, right. He's obviously offensively gifted, and that's the only tier he's slightly better than some.

Petey has one more gear in my opinion. With a bit more talent around him and with Kuzy by his side he could be a 120 point player. He had like 73 points in 35 games, and this after what some say a slow start to the season.

DeNiro
Okay after having a little breather it’s not all so bad. If we’re gonna win at least it’s Petey and Kuz leading the charge, and looks like we might have a real player in Silovs. And also looking at the upcoming out of tank schedule all our fellow tankers play either other tanking teams or easier opponents while we play the Bruins and then the Stars. Hopefully we’re back on tank track by Sunday. 1

We're talking about the Art Ross, being offensively gifted is the only factor that matters in this conversation. As for slightly, come on, go look at the point totals of the point leaders, it's not close.
sassbs
At least they have to play Boston, dallas, Toronto and Minnesota, they should lose all those games
Canuckfanforlife82
It's not the win. It really isn't. I have cooled a bit. It's the winning at the end of the year and climbing the standings. We just can't seem to have anything at the end of the year worth getting excited about. These wins, although are fun are also costly. I am not trying to whine its just its been years of this and it one of the reasons we don;t really improve very much. Hopefully they draft a Petey or a stud dman with whatever position they end up in at the end but its just concerning.

Coaching change seems like it's maybe having an impact I get that it isn't ideal timing....but these guys are fierce competitors. It's not in their DNA to not try. I agree and this is what CHARACTER looks like, down a couple of goals, refs not giving us favorable calls but these character guys don't give up. The coach making them accountable and the players are responding. Like he said, "no passengers". Why would we not want to build around these guys? Wait until we get some of our injured back and get a couple of good Dmen. We still have some work to do but I like what I am seeing so far. 1 2

McDavid has less points than Petey 5v5. It’s the Oilers PP that is padding his stats. If they ever change the rules or call less penalties McDavid could be in trouble… 1

It's hard to say how he'll age, superstars tend to age better. But so long as he has that speed it's hard to say, it's crazy how one player has so many x-factor's.
